Yermín Mercedes went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, an RBI double, four total RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday’s 13-0 win over the Diamondbacks.
Mercedes got his huge night started with an RBI double against Dallas Keuchel in the first inning. He would follow up that double with a two-run home run in the second inning (again off Keuchel). Putting a cap on this fine performance, Mercedes drove in his fourth and final run of the game via an RBI ground out in the eighth inning. Through 27 at-bats this season, the 29-year-old backstop has picked up eight hits, four of which have gone for extra bases.
