    Mercedes hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since the 2022 season, but the memory of his remarkable homer barrage for the White Sox at the outset of the 2021 campaign still linger. The 31-year-old is unlikely to make it back to the big leagues at this point in his career.

    Yermín Mercedes went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, an RBI double, four total RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday’s 13-0 win over the Diamondbacks.
    Mercedes got his huge night started with an RBI double against Dallas Keuchel in the first inning. He would follow up that double with a two-run home run in the second inning (again off Keuchel). Putting a cap on this fine performance, Mercedes drove in his fourth and final run of the game via an RBI ground out in the eighth inning. Through 27 at-bats this season, the 29-year-old backstop has picked up eight hits, four of which have gone for extra bases.
