Just 16 teams are left after an exciting Round of 32 in the women’s NCAA tournament.
No. 1 seeds Texas and USC dominated in their respective matchups. Though the Trojans won, sophomore star JuJu Watkins suffered a torn ACL in her right knee during the first quarter against No. 9 Mississippi State, and will miss the remainder of the season.
Maryland triumphed over Alabama in a double overtime thriller and UConn star Paige Bueckers delivered her second 30-point performance of the tournament in the team’s win over South Dakota State. Oh, and No. 5 seed Kansas State knocked off No. 4 seed Kentucky in overtime to advance.
The Sweet 16 is expected to be just as exciting as Duke and UNC will meet in a rivalry matchup. South Carolina had the closest game amongst the No. 1 seeds in the Second Round with a 64-53 win over Indiana — and the Gamecocks face red-hot Maryland next. NC State, Oklahoma and TCU looked stronger in the Round of 32 than they did in their tournament openers.
Which teams will advance to the Elite Eight? Here are all of the games to keep an eye on today as the women’s tournament heats up.
