10hDeWanna Bonner accumulated seven points (2-of-6 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), six rebounds, two assists and one steal in Wednesday’s win over the Lynx.

A first-round pick of the Mercury in 2009, Bonner officially returned to the Valley of the Sun Wednesday afternoon. She came off the bench against the Lynx, but, despite this being her first action since June 10, Bonner logged 26 minutes. The six-time All-Star replaced Natasha Mack (seven points and six rebounds in 16 minutes) with 7:08 remaining in the first quarter, and on-court chemistry was not an issue between Bonner and her new teammates. While it remains to be seen how Bonner fits in a rotation that includes Kahleah Copper and Satou Sabally, since both were unavailable on Wednesday, her versatile skill set should make for a good fit in Phoenix.

10hAlyssa Thomas finished Wednesday’s win over the Lynx with 29 points (14-of-24 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), eight rebounds, five assists and two steals.

For the second consecutive game, the Mercury were without Satou Sabally and Kahleah Copper, again placing more responsibility upon Thomas’ shoulders. After recording her 60th career triple-double against the Wings on Monday, the veteran forward kicked things up as a scorer against the team with the WNBA’s best record. Thomas established new career-highs in points and field-goal attempts while shooting over 50 percent from the field. Add in the rebounds, assists and steals, and this was another excellent day to have Thomas rostered in your fantasy league. With the Mercury off until July 14, the hope is that Sabally and Copper will be available.

13hSatou Sabally (ankle) and Kahleah Copper (hamstring) are out for Wednesday’s game against the Lynx.

Sabally and Copper will miss their second consecutive games due to injury, leaving the Mercury without two of their top three scorers. Sami Whitcomb and Natasha Mack moved into the starting lineup for Monday’s win over the Wings, with the former going off for 36 points — 29 in the first half. Those two should retain their roles, while new signing DeWanna Bonner is also available to begin her second stint with the Mercury.

2dSami Whitcomb finished with 36 points (12-of-19 FGs, 5-of-8 FTs), six rebounds, one assist, two steals and seven three-pointers in Monday’s win over the Wings.

Whitcomb put on a show for the PHX Arena crowd on Monday, as she set a new career-high in points to help the Mercury avenge their recent loss to the Wings. The veteran three-point specialist was impressive from the start, tallying four threes and 19 points in the first quarter to match the Wings’ total production in the opening frame. She’d go on to score 29 in the first half before adding seven more points the rest of the way. Whitcomb will likely return to Phoenix’s bench once Satou Sabally (ankle), Kahleah Copper (hamstring), and Lexi Held (chest) make their way back to the lineup. Regardless, the veteran continues to have a strong season and is proving capable of big performances on any given day.

2dNatasha Mack, Alyssa Thomas, Sami Whitcomb, Kathryn Westbeld and Monique Akoa Makani will start for the Mercury on Monday against the Wings.

Injuries have forced a change to the Mercury’s starting lineup ahead of their rematch with the Wings on Monday. Starters Satou Sabally (ankle) and Kahleah Copper (hamstring) have both been ruled out, leaving Sami Whitcomb and Natasha Mack as their two replacements. Whitcomb has started 12 of 17 games this season, and her three-point shooting has allowed her to fit in nicely alongside Alyssa Thomas and the rest of the starters. Meanwhile, Mack will earn her first start of the season — her offensive contributions likely won’t be as noticeable, but she’ll compete on the glass.

2dSatou Sabally (ankle) is out for Monday’s game against the Wings.

Due to a sprained right ankle, Sabally will miss a game for the first time this season. The good news is that she’s considered day-to-day, but there is a significant hole in the Mercury rotation with the All-Star forward sidelined. Natasha Mack and Murjanatu Musa, the latter being removed from the injury report after missing time with an ankle injury, should see their playing time increase with Sabally out. However, neither offers much offensive upside.

6dSatou Sabally shot 5-of-15 from the field and 8-of-9 from the foul line in Thursday’s loss to the Wings, scoring 20 points with two rebounds, three assists, two steals, one block and two three-pointers.

Sabally’s point total and final stat line were solid, but the former was boosted by an 8-of-9 night at the foul line. The Mercury forward shot 30 percent (3-of-10) from inside the arc, weighing down her overall percentage. The good news for fantasy managers who have Sabally rostered was that field goal percentage is not a scoring category in standard ESPN leagues, and she did a little bit of everything in the defeat. Unsurprisingly, Sabally has been one of the most valuable frontcourt players in fantasy basketball, and that should not change anytime soon.

10dSatou Sabally shot inefficiently during Sunday night’s 84-81 loss to the Aces, adding 10 points (3-of-14 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), nine rebounds, two assists, and one three-pointer in 29 minutes of play.

Coming off a game with seven made three pointers, Sabally cooled off against the Aces on Sunday. She didn’t get many touches in the first half and when she did, her drives to the rim were altered by former Defensive Player of the Year A’ja Wilson. Sabally made her first shot in the third quarter, a pull-up three on a smaller defender in Tiffany Mitchell. Sabally took a lot of inefficient mid-range shots that didn’t fall, as the two other shots she made on Sunday were both within ten feet of the rim on backdoor cuts.

10dAlyssa Thomas nearly approached a triple-double once again during Sunday night’s 84-81 loss to the Aces, finishing with 16 points (5-of-10 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), seven rebounds, and eight assists in 33 minutes of play.

Thomas played a major role in getting the Mercury back into the game in the fourth quarter when they trailed by as many as nine points at the beginning of the quarter. She scored an and-one after rebounding and driving the ball coast-to-coast in transition to tie the game up at 62 with 7:06 remaining in regulation. Thomas followed that by scoring back-to-back Mercury field goals a couple of minutes later, and found Kalani Brown and then Satou Sabally near the rim to keep the game within a score with under two minutes left. Thomas also passed former player Michelle Snow for 15th on the WNBA’s All-Time rebounds list during the third quarter.

11dSatou Sabally led the Mercury during Friday’s 106-91 win over the Liberty, amassing 25 points (8-of-14 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), six rebounds, three assists, three steals, and seven three-pointers in 24 minutes.

Sabally had her second-most efficient game of the season against the Liberty on Friday night. She hit seven threes, tying her career high and became the third player this season to make at least seven threes in a game. Sabally has eclipsed 20 points on nine occasions this season, which is tied for second in the entire WNBA. Sabally scored nine of her 25 points in the third quarter to break open the game for good even though the Liberty brought the deficit down to single-digits with 4:34 left in the third.
