2dPaige Bueckers picked up her first career double-double, notching 12 points (3-of-11 FGs, 4-of-6 FTs), one rebound, ten assists, three steals and two three-pointers in Wednesday night’s 85-81 loss to the Lynx.

Bueckers began the game intentionally playmaking to get backcourt partner Arike Ogunbowale more open shots after Ogunbowale struggled to make shots on Monday night against the Storm. She assisted on seven total treys including five made by Ogunbowale. Bueckers’ shooting, however, was a different story. Her six first-half shots just didn’t go down as she started the game 1-for-6 from the field. But Bueckers got more aggressive in the second half on drives to the basket and took advantage of Minnesota’s physical defense. She got to the line three times in the third and put a third of her total points on the board as a result. Bueckers reached double-digit scoring with 6:31 left in the fourth when she made a 27-foot smooth three-pointer that got the Wings within seven points. Her 10th assist came with 39 seconds left in regulation when she found Ogunbowale for a wide open three to drive the Lynx lead down to two.

2dArike Ogunbowale bounced back with 21 points (8-of-20 FGs), two rebounds, five assists, two steals and five three-pointers in Wednesday night’s 85-81 loss to the Lynx.

After a poor performance shooting 2-of-14 from the field and only scoring eight points on Monday night against the Storm, Ogunbowale had a bounce back game. Paige Bueckers was intentional on setting Ogunbowale up early on in the first quarter on wide open looks from the perimeter. In the second quarter, Ogunbowale facilitated more with the ball in her hands rather than scoring off the ball. While more of Ogunbowale’s shots fell than on Monday, her scoring wasn’t efficient. With 39 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Ogunbowale’s wide open trey on yet another Bueckers pass got the Wings within two points. But on the ensuing play on the other side, Ogunbowale made a defensive error, intentionally fouling Napheesa Collier too soon, which forced Collier to the line when she didn’t need to. Those final two throws put the Lynx up for good.

4dNaLyssa Smith generated 12 points (4-of-6 FGs, 4-of-6 FTs) and four rebounds in Monday’s loss to the Storm in 18 minutes of play.

The majority of Smith’s production on Monday night was cleaning up misses on the offensive glass, running the floor and scoring in transition on heads up passes from Paige Bueckers. While Smith provided some impact scoring and aggression on the offensive glass, she didn’t play in the entire fourth quarter. It seems clear that she’s not trusted to close out tight games. The Wings got the score back within five points by the start of the fourth quarter.

4dPaige Bueckers finished with a career-high 19 points (7-of-14 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), five rebounds, eight assists, two steals, a block and one three-pointer in Monday’s loss to the Storm.

Bueckers looked more like the player fans have grown to love in her 37 minutes of play for the Wings on Monday night. She began the game hesitant, trying to read and make decisions quickly out of the Storm’s traps on ball screens. But once Dallas Wings head coach Chris Koclanes subbed Bueckers back in with 4:54 remaining in the first quarter after a couple of minutes to take a breather, the No. 1 overall draft pick found her rhythm and flow within the Wings’ offense. Her efficient scoring and playmaking allowed the Wings to get within three points of the Storm with 33 seconds remaining in the third quarter after being down by as many as 17. Bueckers’ defensive effort was evident as well as she was either a roamer or was placed on Skylar Diggins. With 1:23 left in the fourth, Bueckers picked Gabby Williams’ pocket and scored on the other end, shaving the Storm’s lead down to five points.

7dPaige Bueckers made her WNBA debut and finished with 10 points (3-of-10 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), seven rebounds, two assists and one block in 30 minutes for the Wings in their loss to the Lynx on Friday.

Bueckers’ highly anticipated rookie debut was met with mixed results. The No. 1 pick started strong with a couple of early baskets and four first-quarter points before struggling to find the shooting touch the remainder of the way. Still, Bueckers landed in double figures on the night and found a way to make an impact in other areas, securing more rebounds than any other Dallas player and registering a block on the defensive end. She wasn’t the most impressive rookie on Friday night, but is still expected to be the most productive rookie in fantasy leagues throughout the season.

8dDijonai Carrington, Arike Ogunbowale, Paige Bueckers, NaLyssa Smith and Myisha Hines-Allen will start Friday’s game against the Lynx.

This quintet started Dallas’ preseason games, so, unsurprisingly, the Wings will stick with this group. Bueckers is making her official WNBA debut and is the clear favorite to win Rookie of the Year honors. Ogunbowale is among the league’s best scorers, while Carrington is among its best perimeter defenders. Also of note is the decision to start Hines-Allen, going with a more mobile option in the frontcourt with Teaira McCowan coming off the bench.

13dPaige Bueckers recorded 15 points (6-of-8 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), five rebounds, six assists, one block and one three-pointer in Saturday’s exhibition win over the Toyota Antelopes.

After a solid preseason debut on May 2, Bueckers looked more comfortable with her new teammates on Saturday. Of course, there’s something to be said for the difference in competition, as the Antelopes don’t compare to the Las Vegas Aces. However, the top overall pick in last month’s draft was efficient in her 23 minutes on the court, shooting 75 percent from the field and only committing two turnovers. How comfortable Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale become playing alongside each other will significantly impact the Wings’ outlook in 2025. As for fantasy basketball, Bueckers should be the first rookie drafted, regardless of league format or size.

Bueckers started and had an efficient outing in her first game in a Wings uniform. She seemed poised and showcased the smooth jump-shooting that helped drive her success as a collegiate athlete. The No. 1 pick in the 2025 Draft’s fit alongside Arike Ogunbowale (five points, two rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes) seemed natural after one game, and the two could be dynamic together for years to come. Bueckers should be the first rookie taken off the board in fantasy drafts.

Scott spent five seasons at Ole Miss, earning SEC Rookie of the Year honors in 2021 and being a three-time All-SEC honoree. In helping lead the Rebels to the Sweet 16, the 6-foot-1 forward averaged 11.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.0 steals in 29.4 minutes, shooting 46.6 percent from the field and 73.7 percent from the foul line. Scott is an athletic wing who defends well on the perimeter, and her playmaking ability improved throughout her time in college. She joins a Wings squad that’s going through a rebuild, with veteran scorer Arike Ogunbowale leading the way. Scott is one of three players selected by the Wings in the first 14 picks, including Paige Bueckers and Aziaha James.

One of the faces of college basketball from the time she stepped on the floor as a freshman, Bueckers put a bow on her college career earlier this month by helping UConn’s women’s basketball program capture its 12th national championship. Standing at 6-foot-0, the former AP Player of the Year and Wooden Award winner can fill it up at all three levels while still being a more-than-capable playmaker on the wing. Her ability to overcome multiple major knee injuries, regain her form, and become this year’s No. 1 overall pick is another feather in her cap. As a senior, she averaged 19.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.1 steals per game, shooting 53.4 percent from the field and 41.9 percent from deep. Her fit alongside the two-time WNBA All-Star Game MVP, Arike Ogunbowale, should make for an exciting backcourt in Dallas.
