    Sparks waived G Odyssey Sims.
A few days removed from rejoining the team after missing time for personal reasons, the Sparks have waived Sims. The veteran guard started 11 of the 12 games she appeared in this season, averaging 9.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 three-pointer in 29.5 minutes. Julie Allemand has rejoined the team after playing in FIBA Women’s EuroBasket, and her return will help the Sparks regarding their perimeter depth.
  • Odyssey Sims (personal) is available for Sunday’s game against the Sky.
Sims has been away from the Sparks for personal reasons for the better part of three weeks, but she is officially available for Sunday’s game. The player most impacted by Sims’ return is Shey Peddy, who has started alongside Kelsey Plum in recent games. Even if Peddy remains in the starting lineup for another game, her minutes will likely decrease.
  • Sparks waived forward Liatu King.
Initially waived by the Sparks on May 12, King was re-signed just over a week later as the team was dealing with multiple injuries. The third-round pick out of Notre Dame appeared in 12 games, averaging 3.0 points and 2.1 rebounds in 10.0 minutes. King being waived likely means Odyssey Sims will be available for Sunday’s game against the Sky. Away from the team for personal reasons, the veteran guard has not appeared in a game since June 11. Sims practiced on Saturday and is currently probable for Sunday.
  • Odyssey Sims (personal) will miss Thursday’s game against the Fever.
Sims will miss her fifth game in a row when the Sparks visit the Fever on Thursday. The veteran guard had been a key contributor on the offensive end for Los Angeles in the 11 games she appeared in prior to taking time away from the team. Shey Peddy will start in Sims’ spot, while Sarah Ashlee Barker should see some additional opportunities.
  • Odyssey Sims (personal) is out for Tuesday’s game against the Sky.
Sims remains away from the team for personal reasons, with the veteran guard having last appeared in a game on June 11. While Sarah Ashlee Barker was her initial replacement in the starting lineup, Shey Peddy took on that role for Saturday’s loss to the Lynx. Peddy should remain the starter, but Barker will also figure prominently in the Sparks’ rotation.
  • Odyssey Sims (personal) is out for Saturday’s game against the Lynx.
Sims remains away from the team while attending to a personal matter. The good news for the Sparks is that Kelsey Plum (knee) is not on the injury report for Saturday’s game, and her return will undoubtedly give the team a needed boost. Sarah Ashlee Barker has replaced Sims in the starting lineup and should retain that role until the veteran returns.
  • Sarah Ashlee Barker accumulated 12 points (4-of-11 FGs), seven rebounds, one assist and four three-pointers in Tuesday’s Commissioner’s Cup loss to the Storm.
After finishing Saturday’s loss to the Lynx with more turnovers (five) than shot attempts (two), Barker was far more active offensively in her second start for the absent Odyssey Sims (personal). The rookie guard established season-highs in points and field-goal attempts, scoring in double figures for the first time as a pro. With Kelsey Plum (knee) also out, there will continue to be additional opportunities for Barker to score. While she isn’t a must-add in standard fantasy leagues, managers in deeper formats should consider Barker ahead of Saturday’s game against the Lynx if the Sparks remain as shorthanded as they currently are.
  • Odyssey Sims (personal) is out for Tuesday’s game against the Storm.
For personal reasons, Sims remains away from the Sparks and will miss a second consecutive game on Tuesday. Sarah Ashlee Barker played 28 minutes as her replacement in the starting lineup for Saturday’s loss to the Lynx and should retain that role due to Los Angeles’s lack of available bodies.
  • Sarah Ashlee Barker, Kelsey Plum, Rickea Jackson, Dearica Hamby and Azurá Stevens will start for the Sparks on Saturday against the Lynx.
With starting guard Odyssey Sims (personal) out Saturday, Barker will re-enter the starting lineup for Los Angeles. Barker has started five of the team’s 11 games thus far and could see even more minutes with veteran guard Julie Allemand (EuroBasket) also out of the lineup. Sims’ loss, in particular, will be a costly one for a Sparks team that holds a 4-7 record through the first quarter of the season. They’ll look to land back-to-back wins for the first time all season on Saturday.
  • Odyssey Sims (personal) will miss Saturday’s game against the Lynx.
Sims will miss her first game of the 2025 season due to personal reasons. The veteran’s absence will leave both a scoring and facilitating void in the Sparks’ starting backcourt, with Sims’ 10.5 points and 3.5 assists per game needing to be replaced. Rookie guard Sarah Ashlee Barker could see more minutes and increased opportunities with Sims sidelined.
