7hMyisha Hines-Allen recorded 16 points (6-of-9 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and one three-pointer for the Wings in their loss to the Storm on Tuesday.

Hines-Allen bounced back from a one-point, zero-rebound performance against the Sky to record her first double-double of the season on Tuesday. Four of her 12 rebounds came on the offensive end of the floor, but even more noteworthy was her efficient 66.0 percent shooting on a night where Dallas shot under 35.0 percent from the field as a team. Her efficiency ultimately led her to finish as the Wings’ second-leading scorer and one of three on the team to reach double figures. She’ll have a chance to ride the momentum of Tuesday’s game when the Wings face the Sparks on Friday.

8dMyisha Hines-Allen (ankle) is questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Sun.

Hines-Allen was limited to 13 minutes in Saturday’s loss to the Dream, dropping Dallas to 0-4 on the season. If the veteran forward cannot play on Tuesday, a spot in the starting lineup opens up. Teaira McCowan is a potential replacement if Hines-Allen cannot play, providing points, rebounds and a solid field-goal percentage. There may also be more minutes available to fellow starter NaLyssa Smith, who played 19 minutes on Saturday.

13dMyisha Hines-Allen added 11 points (4-of-6 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), seven rebounds and three assists in Wednesday night’s 85-81 loss to the Lynx.

Hines-Allen almost willed her team to a win on Wednesday night. In the span of 15 seconds with 1:30 left in the fourth quarter, Hines-Allen got the Lynx’s lead over the Wings down from eight points to three. It all began with a coast-to-coast score on an and-one driving past former teammate Napheesa Collier. Seconds later she drew another shooting foul on Collier and made both of her free throws to get the score down just three points. Hines-Allen had a noticeable influence on the game whenever she played on Thursday night. She had the best +/- on her team, finishing the game with an even +12 in 26 minutes of play.

15dTeaira McCowan contributed 10 points (4-of-7 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), nine rebounds and one assist, one steal and three blocks off the bench in 15 minutes of play during Monday’s loss to the Storm.

While McCowan is the Wings’ least versatile big, she played a much more productive role than starters NaLyssa Smith and Myisha Hines-Allen. When the Wings were struggling to get early offense in the first quarter, McCowan stepped up and took advantage of the mismatches she had inside. While both she and Storm backup center Li Yueru are around the same height, McCowan is much stronger and found a way to muscle her way to the basket. McCowan played well alongside Maddy Siegrist, who is more a natural stretch power forward and can actually provide spacing.

18dDijonai Carrington, Arike Ogunbowale, Paige Bueckers, NaLyssa Smith and Myisha Hines-Allen will start Friday’s game against the Lynx.

This quintet started Dallas’ preseason games, so, unsurprisingly, the Wings will stick with this group. Bueckers is making her official WNBA debut and is the clear favorite to win Rookie of the Year honors. Ogunbowale is among the league’s best scorers, while Carrington is among its best perimeter defenders. Also of note is the decision to start Hines-Allen, going with a more mobile option in the frontcourt with Teaira McCowan coming off the bench.

24dMyisha Hines-Allen shot 6-of-7 from the field in Saturday’s exhibition win over the Toyota Antelopes, scoring 12 points with two rebounds, five assists and two steals.

With Dallas playing its final exhibition against a team that lacked interior size, head coach Chris Koclanes decided to go with a smaller lineup. Hines-Allen moved into the starting five, with Teaira McCowan (12 points and five rebounds in 12 minutes) coming off the bench. Both players were effective in their respective roles, potentially giving Koclanes another lineup possibility once the regular season begins. Hines-Allen has primarily been a reserve during her WNBA career, with the most games she’s started in a season being 22 with the Mystics in 2020. Coming off the bench limits her fantasy ceiling, but she’ll undoubtedly be a key member of the Wings’ rotation.
