Packers fired associate head coach/LBs Winston Moss.
Mike McCarthy’s right-hand man, Moss joins his former boss in the unemployment line. 53 years old later this month, Moss has been in Green Bay since the 2006 season. He was a candidate for the Packers’ DC job before Mike Pettine got it and also interviewed for the Lions’ head-coaching gig last January. Moss had some critical words on Twitter early Tuesday before his ouster.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said LBs coach Winston Moss, CBs coach Joe Whitt Jr., and safeties coach Darren Perry are candidates for the defensive coordinator vacancy.
Green Bay fired DC Dom Capers after the season. McCarthy said the team will also look at external candidates, but they have some good options in-house. Moss, who the Lions want to interview for their head coaching vacancy, might be the best bet.

Packers LBs coach Winston Moss interviewed for the Lions’ head-coaching vacancy on Thursday.
Moss is the fourth candidate the Lions have interviewed so far following sit-downs with DC Teryl Austin, OC Jim Bob Cooter and Texans DC Mike Vrabel. He’s also a leading candidate to replace Dom Capers as the Packers’ defensive coordinator. Moss has been with Green Bay in some capacity since 2006.

NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero reports the Lions have sought permission to interview Packers assistant head coach/LBs coach Winston Moss for their head-coaching vacancy.
A Packers assistant since 2006, Moss usually comes up once or twice during head-coaching season. Promoted to assistant head coach last year, it’s possible Moss ends up a candidate to replace Dom Capers as defensive coordinator in Green Bay. He will be a long shot for the Lions’ job.
