Barnes left the Week 2 loss to the Dolphins early and was quickly ruled out for the day. Willie Smith, a former undrafted free agent that the Raiders just picked up off the street on Sept. 1, is expected to start on Carson Palmer’s blind side in Week 3.

An undrafted free agent out of East Carolina last season, Smith ended up making three starts for the Redskins. He’ll provide depth along the Raiders’ thin line.

They’ll have Tyler Polumbus at right tackle against a fearsome Giants pass rush. While Jason Pierre-Paul is likely to bolster his Defensive Player of the Year resume on Sunday, we’d have serious reservations about the Redskins’ passing game. It’s a scary situation with Rex Grossman at quarterback, and DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer on the other team. RT Jammal Brown hinted Friday that his groin is torn. “It ain’t really about sucking it up,” Brown said. “If you’ve got a tear, you’ve got a tear.” The Cowboys’ defense is a recommended Week 11 play.

OT Kenny Wiggins was waived in a corresponding roster move. A third-year undrafted free agent, Smith has made 10 career starts, including seven for the Raiders last season. He’ll provide depth for the Chargers’ constantly banged up offensive line.
