Free agent CB William Gay is visiting the Cardinals on Monday.
Free agent DB/ST Jarrett Bush is also in Arizona. Gay knows Cardinals DC Ray Horton well from their time together in Pittsburgh. With the Cards, Gay would compete for playing time at nickel back, filling Richard Marshall’s old role.
  • FA Defensive Back #25
Free agent CB William Gay is scheduled to visit the Titans on Tuesday.
As Terry McCormick of Titan Insider tabulates, Tennessee has now scheduled visits with TE Joel Dreessen, CBs Gay and Tracy Porter, DE Jamaal Anderson, and C Jeff Saturday for this week. Gay visited Cardinals headquarters Monday.
  • FA Defensive Back #30
Cardinals No. 80 overall pick Jamell Fleming is in the mix to start at cornerback opposite of Patrick Peterson.
His competition will be William Gay, A.J. Jefferson, and Greg Toler. Fleming is also expected to see some time at safety. Although neither is overly productive, it’s more likely that one of Jefferson or Gay lands the starting job. Arizona, like most teams, will run a ton of nickel to keep Fleming active on game days. His defensive usage will be determined in training camp.
  • FA Defensive Back #25
The Broncos reportedly have interest in free agents CB William Gay and TE Matthew Mulligan.
The Nashville Tennessean confirms Gay will join Tracy Porter and Marcus Trufant as cornerbacks visiting Denver. Gay has already visited the Titans and Cardinals, and the Steelers want him back as well. Mulligan is purely a blocking specialist while Jacob Tamme, scheduled to visit Denver this week, is purely a receiving tight end.
  • FA Defensive Back #25
Free agent CB William Gay plans to pick between the Broncos, Cardinals, and Titans after visiting all three clubs this week.
Gay announced he is done making visits and will now choose where to sign. The Broncos would give Gay his best shot at a starting job, pushing Andre’ Goodman at right cornerback. He’s most familiar with Arizona’s defensive scheme.
  • FA Defensive Back #25
Free agent CB William Gay said the Steelers have expressed interest in bringing him back.
“I want to do everything that I can to stay and hope the Steelers are willing to do everything they can to keep me,” Gay said on the radio Tuesday. Gay is a free agent after starting 15 games last year. We doubt he’ll get great offers elsewhere. He may return in 2012 as a reserve.
  • FA Defensive Back #25
According to Arizona XTRA 910’s Mike Jurecki, the Steelers are still in play to re-sign free agent CB William Gay.
Gay had reportedly narrowed his choices to Arizona, Denver and Tennessee, but could still head back to the club that made him a fifth-round pick in 2007. Gay started a career high 15 games in 2011, making two interceptions and 61 tackles. He was one of the league’s easier targets for opposing quarterbacks, however, and is unlikely to be guaranteed a starting job wherever he ends up.
  • FA Defensive Back #25
Cardinals signed CB William Gay, formerly of the Steelers.
Like Tashard Choice, Gay broke the news on his own Twitter account. Gay will replace CB Richard Marshall, and gives the Cardinals insurance as Greg Toler completes his recovery from a torn ACL. With Patrick Peterson and A.J. Jefferson also in the fold at corner, Gay might begin the year as low as No. 4 on the depth chart, but could also see time at safety. Marshall played both corner and safety in 2011, and Pittsburgh was mulling re-signing Gay as a safety before letting him walk. Going by opposing quarterback completion percentage, Gay was one of the league’s poorer starting corners in 2011.
  • FA Defensive Back #20
Cardinals CB Greg Toler estimates that he’s “85 percent” recovered from September ACL surgery.
Hoping to participate in OTAs this month and next, Toler is up to 198 pounds after gaining 11 pounds, mostly in his upper body. Toler is slated to battle William Gay, A.J. Jefferson and third-rounder Jamell Fleming for the starting job opposite Patrick Peterson.
  • FA Tackle #73
Steelers GM Kevin Colbert suggested that none of his team’s 11 unrestricted free agents will be re-signed before the market opens on March 13.
Well over the salary cap limit, the Steelers are already working feverishly to free up money for restricted free agent Mike Wallace. The front office will let the market determine the salaries for OT Max Starks (torn ACL), DB William Gay, and WR Jerricho Cotchery.
