ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Vince Young was the Raiders’ fallback plan if they hadn’t landed Carson Palmer.
It’s a moot point now, but it’s interesting to note that Young still garners interest around the league as a starter. He’s set to become a free agent after this season. There’s reason for deep Dynasty leaguers to hold on to Young.

The Raiders have “preliminary” interest in free agent Vince Young.
The report is via NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. “Preliminary” interest in a workout barely even qualifies as interest, but it’s more than Young has drawn to this point in his “comeback.” The Raiders would make sense for Young if they cut Carson Palmer and let V.Y. battle Terrelle Pryor for the starting quarterback job. They’d also become the obvious favorites for Jadeveon Clowney.

Free agent QBs Vince Young and Troy Smith worked out for the Raiders on Wednesday.
NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport hears that Young “looked good.” Smith said just last month that he was “ready to move on to the next chapter of my life.” Oakland has reportedly been sniffing around Young for the past month. They have just two quarterbacks under contract at the moment.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reports the Raiders are no longer interested in free agent Vince Young after drafting Tyler Wilson.
The Raiders and Seahawks are the only two teams Young has been linked to this offseason, and both have since moved on to other options. There’s still time for Young to get an invite as a camp body, but no one is going to sign him with a 53-man roster spot in mind.

Adam Caplan of FOX Sports hears the Raiders are still looking for “potential competition” for QB Jason Campbell.
Caplan throws out Trent Edwards and Marc Bulger as possibilities, though we’ve heard multiple times that Bulger wants to either re-sign with Baltimore or land close to his midwest home base. Edwards makes some sense, as he starred at nearby Stanford. If the Raiders are serious about competition, Vince Young is the best QB available and would benefit from Hue Jackson’s coaching.

Vince Young has reportedly “performed like a rookie” in Titans camp.
Young has struggled with snaps from center and made “countless errors” despite at times flashing his trademark playmaking abilities. He’ll play in the third quarter of Tennessee’s preseason opener.

Vince Young suffered a sprained left ankle in the Titans’ preseason-opening, 19-16 loss to the Saints Saturday night.
Young was inaccurate and made poor decisions prior to the injury, taking two sacks and completing just 4-of-11 passes for 56 yards. He targeted Drew Bennett frequently, but the two only connected once. Young did rush for 28 yards on four carries. He was reportedly seen walking around after the game, so the injury doesn’t seem serious.

Coach Jeff Fisher guaranteed that Vince Young would play during 2006.
“I can’t say if he’s the number two or three right now, but you’re going to assume that he’s going to be very close to two ... Let’s face it, you’re going to see No. 10 on the field this year. When, where and how, I can’t be specific, but you’re going to see him on the field at some point,” Fisher said.

Coach Jeff Fisher believes Vince Young and Billy Volek will compete to start.
"(Volek) has to compete against the third pick of draft,” Fisher said. “There will probably be good competition there with Vince coming in. He has a bright future so it will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully Billy gets his chance to show what he can do and help us win.” GM Floyd Reese annointed Volek the starter on a radio show Thursday.

Vince Young is expected to practice on Monday.
His ankle injury isn’t thought to be serious. Young’s preseason debut would’ve looked a little better on paper if Roydell Williams hadn’t dropped a perfectly-placed 50-yard bomb.
