Lin appeared in one game last year for the Twins at the big-league level and just seven contests at Triple-A St. Paul. The versatile 28-year-old infielder holds a .223/.298/.316 triple-slash line with one homers and two steals in 218 plate appearances in the majors since 2017.

  • INT Shortstop #37

  • INT Shortstop #37
Twins purchased the contract of INF/OF Tzu-Wei Lin from Triple-A St. Paul.
Lin had a nice spring for the Twins and is now back in the majors after spending a couple weeks at the alternate site. He’ll give the club some versatility.

  • MLB Outfielder #23
Twins reassigned OF Keon Broxton, C Tomas Telis, INF Tzu-Wei Lin, INF JT Riddle and OF Rob Refsnyder to minor-league camp.
The Twins’ spring training roster is down to just 30 players with less than a week to go before Opening Day. There aren’t any major surprises in this latest batch of cuts, but the subtraction of numerous versatile bench options like Broxton, Lin, Riddle and Refsnyder, virtually guarantees that utilityman/backup catcher Willians Astudillo will be on the team’s Opening Day roster. It also means that the final roster spot could come down to reserve outfielders Brent Rooker and Kyle Garlick.

  • INT Shortstop #37
Twins signed INF Tzu-Wei Lin to a minor league contract.
No word yet as to whether Lin gets an invite to spring training, but it seems likely. The infielder was designated for assignment at the end of October, and elected free agency after being outrighted to Triple-A Pawtucket. The 26-year-old hit just .154/.182/.173 last year, and owns a career slash of .223/.298/.316. He’ll compete for a utility spot with the Twins, but faces an uphill battle.
