  • FA Tight End #88
The Jaguars declined TE Tyler Eifert’s 2021 option, making him a free agent.
The move saves the Jaguars $5.25 million against the cap. After injuries ruined a span of his career in Cincinnati, Eifert has been able to stay healthy the last two seasons, appearing in 31-of-32 games. In his lone season with Jacksonville, 30-year-old Eifert turned 60 targets into a 36-349-2 line across 15 games. His 52-615-13 year in 2015 was an extreme outlier. Eifert will likely have to settle for another one-year deal.

  • FA Tight End #88
Tyler Eifert caught 1-of-2 targets for 10 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 17 loss to the Colts.
His first year out of Cincinnati led to a 36-349-2 receiving line on 60 targets. Likely due to injuries, Eifert appeared to be moving a step slower as a 30-year-old in 2020. His 5.8 yards per target were a career low. The Jaguars have the cap space and draft capital to bring in Eifert’s replacement this offseason. It’s certainly possible that the Jaguars cut the veteran to save $5 million against the cap. Either way, Eifert will not be fantasy relevant for the rest of his NFL career.

  • FA Tight End #88
Tyler Eifert caught 2-of-5 targets for 17 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 16 loss to the Bears.
Eifert has just two touchdowns and one 50-plus yards game on the season.

  • FA Tight End #88
Tyler Eifert caught 3-of-4 targets for 51 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 15 loss to the Ravens.
Eifert caught an impressive 28-yard pass in garbage time. He had the second most yards among Jaguars pass catchers in the blowout loss. As the team’s primary pass catching tight end, Eifert has some value as a streaming option in the deepest fantasy formats. Eifert has a fantastic Week 16 matchup against a Chicago defense that has been generous to tight ends all year.

  • FA Tight End #88
Tyler Eifert caught 2-of-2 targets for 22 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 14 loss to the Titans.
Eifert drew one target each from Mike Glennon and Gardner Minshew. Eifert will struggle for TE2 appeal in Week 15 regardless of who gets the call under center.

  • FA Tight End #88
Jaguars TE Tyler Eifert (shoulder) is active for Week 14 against the Titans.
Eifert’s status was never in doubt. He’s a bottom-barrel TE2. Inactive for the Jaguars are QB Jake Luton, CB Luq Barcoo, LB Kamalei Correa, LB Quincy Williams, C Brandon Linder, TE Tyler Davis and DE Reggie Gilbert.

  • FA Tight End #88
Tyler Eifer (shoulder) is questionable for Week 14 against the Titans.
Eifert has been afforded more opportunities with Mike Glennon under center the past two games, scoring a touchdown or seeing six targets in back-to-back contests. He’ll file in as a middle-of-the-road TE2 if available on Sunday since this divisional game between the Jaguars and Titans has the third-highest total (52.5) in Week 14.

  • FA Tight End #88
Tyler Eifert caught all six of his targets for 45 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 13 loss to the Vikings.
The six grabs marked a new season high for the tight end, and it was his second 45-plus yards game of the year. He’s obviously well off the fantasy radar ahead of a Week 14 date with the Titans.

  • FA Tight End #88
Tyler Eifert caught 3-of-4 targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars’ Week 12 loss to the Browns.
Eifert still ceded four targets to backup tight end James O’Shaughnessy and his yardage total of 16 is less than inspiring. He has seen at least four targets in six games this year but hasn’t topped 50 yards once. Eifert is a touchdown-or-bust tight end with Mike Glennon as his quarterback. There are worse streaming options at the position but there are also undoubtedly better options.

  • FA Tight End #88
Tyler Eifert caught 2-of-5 targets for 32 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 11 loss to the Steelers.
Eifert was tied for second on the Jaguars in targets but Jake Luton’s four interceptions and 151 passing yards eliminated any chance of him having a useful day. No Jaguars pass-catcher hit even 50 receiving yards. If Gardner Minshew (thumb) is able to return to the lineups next week, Eifert could be a viable streaming option. He has six games with at least four targets. With how awful tight end has been this year, those are notable numbers.
