According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Warriors will host multiple free agents for workouts over the next few weeks.
The Warriors are well under the roster limit for training camp (20), as they have a total of 14 players guaranteed to be present in early October. Given the team’s salary cap situation, they have to look for relative bargains to fill out the roster. As a result, multiple free agents will work out for the team over the next two weeks. According to the report, Juan Toscano-Anderson is one of those players. Also reportedly headed to the Bay Area to work out for the Warriors are Dion Waiters, Tony Snell, Kent Bazemore, Harry Giles, and Trey Burke. Toscano-Anderson and Bazemore have been with the Warriors before, but there’s no telling if the familiarity will enhance their chances of sticking.
  • NBA Point Guard #9
The Thunder have waived Trey Burke.
Burke will look to find a minimum-level deal elsewhere, but he’s a non-factor in fantasy hoops.

  • NBA Point Guard #9
Nine-year NBA veteran Trey Burke was dealt to the Thunder on Thursday.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski described this deal, which was headlined by nobody in particular, as “cap-centric.” The Thunder drop below the luxury tax and gain trade exceptions, while the Rockets pick up a second-round pick. Burke wasn’t fantasy-relevant in Houston, and he won’t be in OKC or anywhere else he’s traded this season -- the Thunder are technically his seventh NBA team, though he was with the Rockets for less than four months this offseason.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Thursday that the Thunder have traded Derrick Favors, Ty Jerome, Moe Harkless, Theo Maledon, and a 2025 2nd from Atlanta to Houston for David Nwaba, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, and Marquise Chriss.
This may be the furthest thing from a blockbuster deal, but it helps get OKC $10 million under the luxury tax while acquiring two trade exceptions, and Houston got a second-round pick for only taking on $1 million in cap space. This move was simply about moving money around for these teams. Nwaba was solid for Houston two years ago, but his role dwindled last season. Now, he’ll get a fresh start in OKC, but it probably won’t result in a huge role. Leave him off your draft board, though he could make an impact later in the season if OKC benches all of their starters again.

  • NBA Point Guard #9
Trey Burke has reportedly exercised his option for the 2022-23 season, according to Keith Smith.
As a result of this decision, Burke is due to be paid $3.3 million next season. His decision to opt into the final year of his contract now means that the trade between the Mavericks and Rockets, which is headlined by Christian Wood, can be completed. Due to the Stepien Rule, the trade won’t become official until after Dallas makes the 26th overall pick (which is headed to Houston in the deal) in the draft on June 23.

  • NBA Point Guard #9
Trey Burke has been traded to the Rockets.
Burke was likely just salary filler here after an unsuccessful season in Dallas. Burke made just 42 appearances with the Mavericks in 2021-22 and there is no guarantee he finds a role with the rebuilding Rockets.

  • Power Forward #35
The Rockets are trading Christian Wood to the Dallas Mavericks, Shams Charania reports.
The Mavericks will send the 26th pick to Houston in addition to Boban Marjanovic, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke and Marquese Chriss. This trade can only be viewed as a good thing for Wood, as he gets a fresh start in Dallas without the threat of Alperen Sengun behind him. Playing alongside Luka Doncic has its perks too obviously, and those two should form a deadly partnership on offense. Wood will be playing in the final year of his contract so the Rockets were wise to get something back in return before they turned their frontcourt over to Sengun.

  • NBA Point Guard #9
Trey Burke and Sterling Brown (health and safety protocols) are not on the injury report ahead of Wednesday’s game in Detroit.
Burke and Brown have missed the past few games, but both should return to the rotation. They help with depth for Dallas, but they’re not relevant in fantasy hoops.

  • NBA Point Guard #9
Trey Burke is still in health and safety protocols and will not be available for Sunday’s matchup with the Bucks.
He and Sterling Brown are still in protocols, and while they should be cleared to play soon, they aren’t fantasy targets. We’ll provide another update once they’re cleared.

  • NBA Point Guard #9
Trey Burke and Sterling Brown are still in health and safety protocols and will miss Friday’s game against the Wizards.
The absences of Burke and Brown will not have an impact as far as fantasy is concerned, as neither is a consistent member of the Mavericks rotation.
