Rams signed P Tom Malone to a reserve/future contract.
A former USC Trojan, Malone will serve as offseason insurance as Rams P Donnie Jones enters free agency. Malone has zero career regular season punts.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #77
Rams signed DT John Gill and waived P Tom Malone.
St. Louis’ backup defensive tackles have been banged up in camp, so Gill may just be a practice body. Malone lost his camp battle with UDFA Johnny Hekker.
  • TEN Punter
Patriots incumbent P Josh Miller didn’t play in Friday’s preseason game.
Danny Baugher and Tom Malone alternated punting duties, which is another bad sign for Miller, who has also had his holding job taken away from him. Baugher, who was named to the NFL Europa All-League team this spring, has the best chance at overtaking Miller’s job.
  • FA Punter #2
    Patriots waived P Tom Malone.
Chris Hanson would be New England’s punter if the season began today.
  • FA Punter #2
    Patriots re-signed P Tom Malone.
Undrafted rookie Aaron Perez didn’t impress at the Pats’ recent round of OTAs, so Malone is back to be their practice leg behind starter Chris Hanson.
  • FA Punter #2
    Patriots released P Tom Malone.
Malone, no relation to Sam, was expected to compete with Chris Hanson for the team’s starting punter job.
  • FA Punter #2
    Seahawks signed P Tom Malone.
Malone has a history with new Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, earning first-team All-Pac 10 honors at USC. Seattle recently signed Jon Ryan to a six-year, $9.1 million dollar contract, so Malone is no more than a camp leg.
  • FA Punter #2
    Seahawks waived P Tom Malone.
Pete Carroll’s former punter at USC gets the heave-ho in favor of Jon Ryan. Malone never had a real shot, as Ryan signed a six-year deal in January.
  • NE Defensive Lineman
Patriots signed OLB Angelo Craig, DL Titus Adams, P Tom Malone, LB Darrell Robertson, and OL Ryan Wendell to reserve/future contracts.
Craig, a seventh-round pick of the Bengals last year, is in the process of converting to 3-4 outside linebacker from defensive end. Like the other four youngsters here, he’s a long shot to have a career at this level.
