    Jaguars released TE Tim Tebow.
Tebow on Twitter Tuesday morning thanks the team for a chance to make their 53-man roster. In what was likely his last foray in professional football, Tebow, 33, tried to make the team as a tight end. He lasted one preseason game in which he didn’t see a target. Signing his longtime buddy was always a questionable move by head coach Urban Meyer, whose first six months as an NFL coach have consisted of nonstop questionable decisions. Meyer said releasing Tebow was a “tough thing” but the “right thing.” CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco, a former Jaguars beat writer, said Tuesday it “was obvious [Tebow] couldn’t play tight end. Any other coach doesn’t even give him a chance.” James O’Shaughnessy or Chris Manhertz will likely start the season as Jacksonville’s TE1.

Darren Waller said he’d “love to help” Tim Tebow transition from quarterback to tight end this summer.
Waller made the slightly-more-traditional transition from receiver to tight end and is now among the game’s elite at the position. “If he thinks he can learn from me, then I’d love to help him and help make his transition smoother,” Waller said. “I tried to find any information I could from watching guys play or asking people when I moved. So I’d love to continue to pass that on and help him be a better player.” Waller said he’s confident Tebow will “find a way” in his latest NFL foray. Tebow, 33, signed as a tight end by longtime buddy Urban Meyer, could be used in a nontraditional role if he makes the Jaguars final roster, according to reports. In May, he signed a one year deal with Jacksonville for $920,000 -- none of it guaranteed.

ESPN’s Dianna Russini reports Jaguars TE Tim Tebow could be used in a “Taysom Hill role” this season.
That escalated quickly. “There are people in camp right now who strongly believe the reason why Urban Meyer brought Tim Tebow in is not to play tight end, but actually to use him in that utility role, that Taysom Hill role that we see Sean Payton use in New Orleans,” Russini said Friday on ESPN. “In terms of comparing the two, we always talk about on this show how much Sean Payton loves Taysom Hill. It’s been very obvious over the years. That same kind of love is what Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer have between each other. It could be a very similar situation, but in terms of football, this is something we could be seeing.” There was always potential for head coach Urban Meyer to deploy the former QB as a short yardage bulldozer in Jacksonville. Such a role for Tebow -- who rushed for 12 touchdowns in two seasons with the Broncos -- could be a major thorn for Trevor Lawrence’s fantasy value, along with whichever Jaguars running back takes short yardage duties. Tebow’s chances of making the Jags roster are far higher than most observers believed a couple weeks ago.

Jaguars TE Tim Tebow has no guaranteed money in his one-year, $920,000 deal.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said the lack of guaranteed money is “another sign that he’ll have to fight to make the team.” Tebow, 33, is expected to take on a position besides a traditional tight end if he cracks the Jags’ Week 1 roster. That could turn the fan favorite into a touchdown vulture near the goal line, affecting the fantasy prospects of Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, and James Robinson. Tebow’s chances to making the team are probably higher than most believe; Jacksonville has one of the NFL’s worst tight end groups, led by James O’Shaughnessy and blocking specialist Luke Farrell, a rookie out of Ohio State. Tebow could be drafted absurdly early in August if signs point to him making Jacksonville’s roster. All of the top-selling items in the NFL.com store are related to Tebow, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Tim Tebow officially signed his one-year contract with the Jaguars.
Tebow, 33, hasn’t played in a regular-season game in nine years but will reportedly “take on a role besides tight end” assuming he makes the team’s roster out of camp. Having previously bruised his way for 12 rushing scores in 14 regular season starts as Denver’s starting quarterback, it’s possible Urban Meyer views his friend/new weapon as a versatile tool inside the five-yard line. Although there’s skepticism Tebow can even make the final roster at his age, run-blocking TE Chris Manhertz is the only competition for him in the room.

The Florida Times-Union’s Gene Frenette said for Tim Tebow to make the Jaguars’ roster, he’ll “undoubtedly” take on a role besides tight end.
Frenette, a longtime columnist who has covered the Jags, said “it’s highly doubtful Tebow would be used exclusively as a tight end. Any shot he has to make Jaguars roster will undoubtedly involve another role as well.” What this means is anyone’s guess until we get into training camp and the preseason. The team using the big-bodied Tebow as a goal line bulldozer is certainly within the range of outcomes though. Such a role would be a downer for everyone in the Jacksonville offense -- Trevor Lawrence and the team’s running backs in particular. Tebow functioned as the Broncos’ primary goal line ball carrier during his short run as the team’s quarterback -- scoring 12 rushing TDs in 14 regular season starts -- following years of ramming in short touchdowns at the University of Florida. Tebow touchdowns could be the most universally tilting experience for fantasy managers this season.

Jaguars signed TE Tim Tebow to a one-year contract.
The deal isn’t ‘official’ just yet but will be in the next week or so. Tebow, 33, hasn’t played in a regular-season game in nine years and will be attempting to change positions once he does make it to camp. It’s another wacky (albeit fun) move that brings Meyer’s tenure into question after the organization also added a first-round running back and drafted multiple injured players. There is no competition among Jacksonville’s tight ends if Tebow does somehow sneak onto the 53-man roster.

NBC Sports’ Peter King reports the Jaguars could sign Tim Tebow as a backup tight end.
After flaming out of the NFL in 2012, Tebow continues to get comeback chances. To be signed as a backup tight end in the NFL’s worst tight end group is, well, something. King said Jacksonville “will wait till after this weekend’s rookie mini-camp to assess their roster and maybe see how much they think they can get in the overall blocking/receiving from fifth-round tight end Luke Farrell of Ohio State.” Farrell was a blocking tight end at OSU, where he caught 12 passes in his final 22 collegiate games. Tebow’s name recognition and college-era fame in central and northern Florida will draw some fantasy managers’ attention this summer. The 33-year-old converted tight end is a long way from fantasy relevance though.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports free agent QB Tim Tebow has converted to tight end and worked out for the Jaguars.
It is 33-year-old Tebow’s latest flight of fancy after he spent four years in the New York Mets’ minor league system, for some reason. Signing with the Jaguars would reunite Tebow with Urban Meyer, of course, but it has been six years since he played as much as a padless offseason rep. For years, people inside the league suggested that Tebow switch to tight end, but the former Heisman Trophy winner and first-round pick also resisted the move. Now it is quite simply too late. If Tebow gets a spot on the Jags’ 90-man roster, it will be nearly impossible to convert it into a 53-man spot.

Asked if he considered making a quarterback change Monday night, coach John Fox ignored the question.
Kyle Orton took five sacks and lost a key fumble on a non-contact play in the second half. That left Broncos fans chanting for Tim Tebow. Still, Fox isn’t even going to go there yet -- especially considering Brady Quinn appears to currently be Orton’s primary backup. Orton has a much longer leash than one game after running away with the job in preseason.
