Thomas Eshleman announced his retirement on Monday.
But he will jump right into a coaching career, having already landed a job in the Padres’ minor league system. “Officially on the other side of the fence,” Eshelman wrote on his personal Twitter account. “I’ve been blessed to be able to play the game I love for so long and I’m excited to share the things that I’ve learned and will continue to learn with the generations to come.” The 28-year-old right-hander logged 98 1/3 total major league innings between 2019-2021, all with the Orioles. He finishes with a lifetime 5.77 ERA.

    Padres released RHP Thomas Eshelman.
Eshelman signed a minor league contract with the Padres last March and didn’t end up making it to San Diego. The soft-tossing 27-year-old righty compiled a lackluster 5.76 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 68/13 K/BB ratio across 114 innings (27 appearances, 24 starts) this season between Double-A Amarillo and Triple-A El Paso. He last appeared in the majors with the Orioles during the 2021 campaign.

Padres signed RHP Thomas Eshelman to a minor league contract.
Eshelman, a California native, will provide the Padres with some extra starting pitching depth this season. The soft-tossing 27-year-old righty holds a lackluster 5.77 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 49/30 K/BB ratio across 98 1/3 innings (31 appearances, 14 starts) at the major-league level since 2019.

Thomas Eshelman has elected free agency.
The Orioles outrighted the right-hander off their 40-man roster and he’s decided to look for a gig elsewhere. Eshelman will surely have to settle for a minor league deal.

Orioles sent RHP Thomas Eshelman outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
Eshelman has been booted from the Orioles’ 40-man roster after allowing a whopping 22 runs on 34 hits with an 11/10 K/BB ratio across 27 2/3 innings (nine appearances, six starts) this season. The 27-year-old righty will function as organizational pitching depth if he chooses to accept the outright assignment.

Thomas Eshelman yielded two runs in 2 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Blue Jays.
Thomas ends the year 0-3 with a 7.16 ERA to remain 11 wins behind Vaughn on the all-time victory list for Eshelmans. He figures to be one of the Orioles’ early cuts once the season concludes.

Thomas Eshelman will start for the Orioles on Friday against the Blue Jays.
Eshelman isn’t fully stretched out and will probably only be able to go 2-3 innings, at most. In other words, expect to see plenty of relievers as the Orioles try to continue playing spoiler.

Thomas Eschelman pitched well over 2 2/3 innings against the Phillies on Tuesday, giving up one run on two hits while striking out three.
The right-hander came on to start the fourth inning in a bullpen game for the Orioles, and nearly worked through the sixth. The 27-year-old has been a disaster for most of his time with the O’s this season, compiling a 7.50 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over 32 2/3 innings.

Orioles selected the contract of RHP Thomas Eshelman from Triple-A Norfolk.
The 27-year-old has been brutal at the major league level this season, posting an 8.02 ERA and 1.83 WHIP over 21 1/3 innings. Eshelman has not fared much better in the minors either with a 7.80 ERA over 30 frames with just 18 strikeouts. There is nothing to see here.
