Lions declared CB Terrion Arnold, OL Giovanni Manu, DL Al-Quadin Muhammad, OL Kayode Awosika, OL Colby Sorsdal, and DL Brodric Martin inactive for Detroit’s Week 12 game against the Colts.
Arnold will miss his first game of the season with a groin injury. He got in a full practice on Friday and will probably trend towards playing on Thanksgiving. Emmanuel Moseley (pectoral) is playing off a questionable tag. Everyone else on the list is inactive as a healthy scratch.
  • DET Linebacker #55
Lions LB Derrick Barnes (leg) was carted off the field in Week 3 against the Cardinals.
Barnes to a block to the knee in the second quarter and immediately went down. He was taken to the locker room on the cart and doesn’t look likely to return. Cornerback Terrion Arnold is questionable to return because of a knee issue. He was spotted on the bike on the sidelines and may be able to return.
  • DET Linebacker #34
Lions LB Alex Anzalone (concussion) is questionable for Week 3 against the Cardinals.
Anzalone missed Wednesday’s practice and was upgraded to a limited participant on Thursday and Friday. He still has more hurdles to clear in the concussion protocol, but the questionable tag gives him a shot at playing on Sunday. Starting cornerback Terrion Arnold is questionable because of an illness. That typically doesn’t stop players from suiting up, so he should be good to go by Sunday.
  • DET Linebacker #34
Lions LB Alex Anzalone (concussion) did not practice Wednesday.
Anzalone suffered the brain injury in the Lions’ Week 2 loss to the Bucs. He has a few days to make it through the league’s concussion protocol. Starting cornerback Terrion Arnold missed practice because of an illness. Most players with the illness designation return without any time missed, so he should still be expected to play in Week 3.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Lions CB Terrion Arnold is not expected to miss regular season time from a pec injury sustained in Monday’s practice.
The Lions selected Arnold with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and hope to have the rookie as a starter in the secondary. However, Arnold suffered a pec injury in practice, briefly putting a wrench in those plans. Second-round rookie CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr. was also hurt in Monday’s practice with an apparent ankle injury. In addition to the two rookies, free agent signing Carlton Davis is also expected to contribute for a revamped Lions secondary that allowed the second-most passing yards per attempt last season. The good news is that Arnold is not expected to miss regular season time, while Rakestraw said he’s “perfectly fine” via an Instagram Live. The Lions will still be able to use the rookies next to Davis to improve the defense this season.

Lions signed No. 24 overall pick CB Terrion Arnold to a four-year contract.
The Lions traded up with the Cowboys to select Arnold with the No. 24 overall pick in this year’s draft. He’s one of a handful of players the Lions have added to their defense in hopes of improving a secondary that allowed the sixth-most passing yards and passing touchdowns last season. In his final season at Alabama, Arnold totaled five interceptions and 6.5 TFLs on his way to earning First-team All-American and First-team All-SEC honors.

Lions traded up with the Cowboys to select Alabama CB Terrion Arnold with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
In a pick swap with the Cowboys, the Lions traded the No. 29 overall pick and the No. 73 overall pick to move up to pick 24. Arnold (5’116/189) was considered a four-star safety prospect out of high school. He transitioned to cornerback shortly after arriving on campus in 2021 and didn’t play a snap his true freshman season as he acclimated to the pace of play at the SEC level. He started the 2022 season opener opposite Kool-Aid McKinstry and was targeted often downfield until he proved worthy of his CB2 role, leading the Tide with a 16.7 ADOT. While Arnold was overshadowed by McKinstry in 2022, he took a backseat to nobody this year by leading the SEC with 16 PBU and five interceptions with the third-highest PFF defensive grade in the Power Five. At the combine, his 1.52s 10-yard split was a strong 90th% time, but his 4.50s 40-yard dash is a less impressive 70th% mark. Arnold ran a magnificent 6.69s 3-Cone (96th%) at his pro day to go with a 10’09” broad jump (93rd%) for a rock solid 9.27 RAS that verifies the dynamism he displays on the field. His safety background is evident when it’s time to converge on a ball carrier and also in his savvy coverage instincts. Arnold is savvy enough in zone coverage to pick up his responsibility in phase but still keeps his eyes in the backfield reading before peeling off his man and making the play on the ball before the quarterback has released the ball. His oily hips and refined technique help him make up for his modest recovery speed. Arnold is one of the most projectable, scheme-versatile players from a strong 2024 cornerback group.
