    Steelers released WR Dez Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick was one of several players let go by the Steelers to trim the roster down to the required 53 men by cut-down day. In addition to Fitzpatrick, the Steelers also released/waived TE Zach Gentry, TE Rodney Williams, CB Luq Barcoo, CB Chris Wilcox, DT Breiden Fehoko, DT Jonathan Williams, LB Nick Kwiatkoski, LB Quincy Roche, OL Ryan McCollum, RB Greg Bell, RB Xazavian Vallady, S Trenton Thompson, S Tre Norwood, WR Jordan Byrd, CB Lavert Hill, DL Manny Jones, LB Toby Ndukwe, OL Le’Raven Clark, OL William Dunkle, QB Tanner Morgan, RB Darius Hagans, S Jalen Elliott, and S Kenny Robinson.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
Bills signed WR Tanner Gentry to a reserve/future contract.
The Bills also signed DT Brandin Bryant, G Jacob Capra, LB Joe Giles-Harris, DB Tim Harris, WR Isaiah Hodgins, DE Mike Love, DB Nick McCloud, TE Quintin Morris, and DB Josh Thomas to reserve/future deals. Gentry spent the entire 2021 season on Buffalo’s practice squad. He led Wyoming in receptions during Josh Allen’s first year as a starter in college.

Bears signed WR Tanner Gentry, OL Dejon Allen, DL Abdullah Anderson, DB John Franklin III, WR Cyril Grayson, DB Michael Joseph, DB Jonathon Mincy, RB Ryan Nall, LB James Vaughters and LB Josh Woods to reserve/future contracts.
A 2017 contributor for an injury-ravaged receiver corps, Gentry never cracked the 53-man roster in 2018.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
Bears signed Wyoming WR Tanner Gentry.
Gentry (6’1/208) broke out as a senior to lead the Mountain West in receiving yards with a combined 72-1,326-14 (18.4 YPR) stat line, earning second-team all-conference honors. Not invited to the Combine, Gentry showed springs with a 38-inch vertical at Wyoming’s Pro Day, also running 4.58 with a passable 10-foot-3 broad jump. Gentry topped 18 yards per reception in each of his final two years, and PFF College charted him with the most 20-plus-yard targets (49) in the entire nation in 2016. Gentry faces a steep learning curve coming from the Cowboys’ wide-open spread, but he’s a name to keep in mind.

    Bears waived WR Tanner Gentry.
An undrafted rookie out of Wyoming, Gentry was making noise at Bears camp and was believed to be on the right side of the bubble by some beat writers. He caught four passes for 77 yards and one touchdown in the preseason. Gentry has good size at 6'2/210 and is a practice squad candidate.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
Bears promoted WR Tanner Gentry from the practice squad.
An UDFA out of Wyoming, Gentry pushed for a 53-man roster spot all summer. He caught four passes for 77 yards and a touchdown during the preseason. Gentry was a big-play machine in the Mountain West. Considering the sorry state of the Bears’ receiver corps, he could get snaps this Sunday.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
WGN’s Adam Hoge believes UDFA WR Tanner Gentry will crack the Bears’ initial roster.
An undrafted rookie out of Wyoming, Gentry has earned consistent praise all offseason and has four catches for 77 yards and a touchdown this preseason. With Cameron Meredith done for the year, the Bears have an extra spot at receiver, and Gentry looks like the best option to fill it. That said, Chicago should be active on the wire after final cuts.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
Bears signed WR Tanner Gentry to their practice squad.
It was somewhat surprising Gentry did not end up on the initial roster after a great preseason, especially considering the Bears’ situation at receiver. He slipped through waivers unclaimed, however, so Chicago seems to have gotten it right. It will not be surprising if Gentry is called up in the near future.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
Bears signed WR Tanner Gentry off their practice squad.
Gentry spent a week on the active roster last month. The 6'2/209 UDFA had a strong preseason and gives the Bears some size. Bears WRs Markus Wheaton and Tre McBride did rookie Mitchell Trubisky no favors in his first NFL start Monday night. Gentry is just another option in this lackluster group.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
The Bears announced Tanner Gentry and Tre McBride as their starting wide receivers for Week 6 at Baltimore.
It’s come to this for the Bears, who recently cut Weeks 1-4 snaps leader Deonte Thompson. Gentry is a practice squad call-up, and McBride is a former Titans seventh-round pick. Third receiver/slot man Kendall Wright remains the Bears’ best fantasy bet at wideout. Zach Miller is their top pass-catching option.
