Free agents RBs Duke Johnson and Lamar Miller are visiting the 49ers.
Adam Schefter later added that T.J. Yeldon was also invited to the visiting party. The 49ers have seen four running backs go down to various injuries since the start of the season. Raheem Mostert is already out for the year while Trey Sermon and JaMycal Hasty both left in Week 2 and did not return. Elijah Mitchell injured his shoulder and was able to return versus the Eagles but his status for Week 3 is still uncertain. Trenton Cannon is the only healthy back on San Francisco’s roster right now. If either veteran back signs with the 49ers, they will likely play a secondary role to Mitchell or Cannon.

  • FA Running Back #22
T.J. Yeldon rushed two times for four yards in the Bills’ Divisional Round win over the Ravens.
Yeldon is the No. 2 running back with Zack Moss, but the coaching staff clearly doesn’t want him on the field. Devin Singletary dominated snaps, leaving Yeldon with just two meaningless carries in garbage time. He’s not a DFS option unless you’re trying to galaxy brain a contrarian lineup in single-game tournaments.

  • FA Running Back #33
Bills added RB Devonta Freeman to their practice squad.
The former Falcons and Giants running back will join Buffalo’s practice squad after the team lost rookie Zack Moss to a season-ending ankle injury last week against the Colts. The Bills’ running back depth chart includes Devin Singletary -- who will operate as the primary ball carrier with Moss sidelined -- T.J. Yeldon, and Taiwan Jones. Yeldon was a healthy scratch last week against the Colts. Freeman, 28, was the Giants’ lead back from Week 4-6, seeing 53 touches over that stretch. Probably he won’t be active this week against Baltimore.

  • FA Running Back #22
Bills placed RB T.J. Yeldon on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Yeldon will miss Week 16 and Week 17 after testing positive, but he will be eligible to return for the playoffs if he’s healthy enough. The veteran hasn’t been involved when Zack Moss and Devin Singletary have been active. Hopefully neither of them are deemed “close contacts” ahead of Monday night’s game against the Patriots.

  • FA Running Back #22
Bills declared RB T.J. Yeldon, DE Trent Murphy, QB Jake Fromm, and TE Tyler Kroft inactive for Week 13 against the 49ers.
Kroft hasn’t played since catching a one-yard touchdown in Week 9.

  • FA Running Back #22
Bills declared RB T.J. Yeldon, QB Jake Fromm, RB Taiwan Jones, G Cody Ford and DT Harrison Phillips inactive for Week 10 against the Cardinals.
Micah Hyde is cleared to play after being listed as questionable with an ankle injury. Buffalo will also only have two available running backs (Zack Moss, Devin Singletary) on Sunday.

  • FA Running Back #22
Bills declared RB T.J. Yeldon, QB Jake Fromm, TE Dawson Knox, OL Quinton Spain, DE Trent Murphy, DT Harrison Phillips and LB Matt Milano inactive for Week 6 against the Chiefs.
Yeldon will head back to the bench with Zack Moss (toe) fully healthy after the latter was removed from the team’s injury report Saturday. Tyler Kroft will also make his second start of the season in place of Knox.

  • FA Running Back #22
T.J. Yeldon rushed seven times for 54 yards and caught a touchdown in the Bills’ Week 5 loss to the Titans.
With Zack Moss (toe) inactive, Yeldon opened the game as the No. 2 back behind Devin Singletary. The starter was unproductive (2.3 YPC), which allowed Yeldon to see more snaps than expected in the second half. Yeldon broke a few big garbage-time runs and found himself open in the back of the end zone for a rare receiving score. Moss should be back soon, so Yeldon can be left on the waiver wire in 10- and 12-team leagues. It was odd to see him outplay Singletary, however.

  • FA Running Back #22
Bills declared RB T.J. Yeldon, QB Jake Fromm, LB Del’Shawn Phillips, LB Tremaine Edmunds, LB Matt Milano, G Ike Boettger, and TE Lee Smith inactive for Week 2 against the Dolphins.
Edmunds’ and Milano’s injuries remain the most impactful for Buffalo, though it may not matter in this particular matchup against the Dolphins’ under-siege trenches. Sunday also makes for Yeldon’s second consecutive healthy-scratched contest.

  • FA Running Back #22
Bills declared RB T.J. Yeldon, QB Jake Fromm, TE Lee Smith, OL Ike Boettger, DE AJ Epenesa and DT Vernon Butler inactive for Week 1 against the Jets.
Yeldon was a frequent healthy scratch in 2019, and that is not changing even following the departure of Frank Gore. Yeldon is probably lucky to still have a roster spot, though he does offer competent play in a pinch.
