Free agent OT Mario Henderson lost a potential contract with the Raiders when he showed up out of shape.
Henderson had agreed to a one-year, $1.7 million contract as a reserve tackle, but that was nullified for being overweight at his physical. He’s not good enough to tell opportunity to go away when it knocks. The Raiders essentially gave Stephon Heyer the contract slated to go to Henderson.

Patriots worked out free agent OTs Stephon Heyer and Brandon Keith as well as free agent G/C Jamey Richard.
Following Matt Light’s retirement, the Patriots lack experienced depth at tackle. Heyer or Keith could be signed in case Marcus Cannon isn’t ready for the swing role.

Raiders signed OT Stephon Heyer, formerly of the Redskins.
Heyer proved to be backup-caliber at best in Washington, often looking like a turnstile as defensive ends got into the backfield. If he starts games, Jason Campbell is going to feel like he’s back in D.C. The Raiders also re-signed OT Seth Wand.

    Jets released OT Stephon Heyer.
Heyer has appeared in at least 12 games each of the past three seasons, but apparently didn’t have enough left in the tank to pressure embattled RT Wayne Hunter. It’s a poor sign for the 28 year old’s future that he couldn’t even make it to final cuts on a team with such an unsettled line.
  • FA Tackle #67
Jets agreed to terms with OTs Stephen Heyer and Ray Willis.
The Jets certainly have need for veteran depth with swinging gate Wayne Hunter at right tackle. Heyer and Willis are unlikely to be upgrades, however. Heyer has just nine starts over the past two years while Willis has yet to see NFL game action since 2009.

No. 4 overall pick Trent Williams was immediately installed as the Redskins’ first-team left tackle at minicamp.
Williams, unsurprisingly, won’t be eased into the lineup. Stephon Heyer has been demoted, as free agent acquisition Artis Hicks lined up at right tackle. The interior line was: LG Derrick Dockery, C Casey Rabach, RG Mike Williams. Heyer could ultimately end up back in the mix if Williams struggles, and Hicks kicks inside to guard. Heyer would then take over on the right.
  • FA Tackle #73
Artis Hicks is currently slated to start at right tackle for the Redskins.
It’s interesting that tackle Stephon Heyer is moving to a reserve role rather than right guard Mike Williams. Heyer certainly hasn’t done anything earn a starting job, but neither has Williams. Hicks remains likely to see time at both spots this season.

Redskins T Stephen Heyer left today’s game with a leg injury in the fourth quarter.
After three lineman injuries in the game, Washington couldn’t block anyone late in the game.
