Zlatan … oh, Zlatan.
We know Zlatan loves himself some Zlatan — and though it was mostly said in jest … we can only assume — but we’ve finally reached “peak Zlatan” with Zlatan’s request that the city of Paris replace the iconic Eiffel Tower with a statue of Zlatan … in order to keep the 34-year-old Swede at Paris Saint-Germain beyond the expiration of his contract this summer.
Following PSG’s 9-0 victory over Troyes on Sunday, which clinched this season’s Ligue 1 title (it’s March 13, by the way), Zlatan announced he’ll not be returning for a fifth season in the French capital … but then he left the door open ever so slightly — quotes from the BBC:“For the moment, I will not be at PSG next season. I still have a month and a half left here.
“If they replace the Eiffel Tower with a statue of me, then I will stay.”
As things currently stand, Ibrahimovic has scored 141 goals in 167 games (all competitions) for the Parisians, and earlier this year became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with his 110th PSG goal.
Considering the obscene money of Qatar Sports Investments, which owns PSG, replacing the Eiffel Tower with a statue of Zlatan isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility … until it reaches the court of public opinion and actual legal courts which would undoubtedly (sadly?) block their motion.
