VIDEO: Tim Sherwood makes managing sound so simple as Aston Villa win again

Tim Sherwood sure is loving life at Aston Villa Football Club, isn’t he?

Not only does the 46-year-old manager now have a 50 percent win percentage in his first season at the club, but he’s got the Villans (probably) six points from safety in the Premier League’s ongoing relegation battle. Following Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Everton, Sherwood was understandably pleased with the performance and determination of his players, and remained his usual chipper, simple self.

A few Sherwood one-liners, from his post-game television interview (above video):

"[My players] are all comfortable in possession of the ball, so why not pass it to each other?”

“I mean, I’m not going to go over the top here, *goes over the top* but there ain’t a better midfield player in the country at the moment than Fabian Delph.”

Sherwood: “I think we need two more wins, to be honest. I think two more wins, maybe three.”

Interviewer: “Really?”

S: “Yeah, possibly. Everyone was talking to me about ‘it might be the lowest total ever [to avoid relegation], but it’s a load of rubbish. It could be the highest total ever.”

I: “So you honestly think 41 points, which would be two more victories, might not be enough.”

S: *stares ahead as the numbers compute in his head* “Nope. Might not be.”

Sherwood’s just the best, isn’t he? For the record, for Villa to go down on 41 points, the following list of events would all have to occur over the Premier League’s final three weeks:

  • Sunderland win 9 points from their final four games
  • Leicester City win 8 points from their final three games
  • Hull City win 8 points from their final three games
  • AND Newcastle United win 7 points from their final three games

Six points and Villa are definitely safe, four or five points and they’re probably still good, three points and it’s 50-50, two or fewer and they’re probably still somehow safe because someone will lose out the remainder of the season.
