Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Steven Gerrard was the late-arriving midfielder into the penalty area, he collected a cross from the wing, weaved his way through a sea of defenders and fired past the goalkeeper to seal all three points for Liverpool Football Club the LA Galaxy.

With Sunday’s clash with the New England Revolution winding down, the Galaxy held a slim one-goal lead after finding themselves up 3-0 at halftime. Nervy times, indeed, especially with Robbie Keane having been subbed off at the hour mark.
Fortunately for the Galaxy, it was Gerrard who spelled him, and it was Gerrard who put the game away for good.
