Incredible.
Just incredible. Ardent Arsenal fan Piers Morgan (you remember, that chap on CNN for quite some time) made a surprise phone call into a MUTV show over the weekend to discuss “Spitgate” with the host.
In case you missed it, “Spitgate” occurred when Manchester United’s defender Jonny Evans was adjudged to have spat at Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse during Manchester United’s 1-0 win last Wednesday.
Since then Evans has been banned by the English Football Association for six games, while Cisse was handed a seven-match ban, as footage of the unsavory incident has been beamed across the world.
So, here’s where Morgan comes in. Watch the video above to see a talk show on MUTV hosted by Johnny Evans’ wife, Helen Evans. Morgan asks her some rather uncomfortable questions while the other hosts, which include former United defender David May, get rather irritated with the Arsenal fan and media personality.
It’s pretty epic viewing, as Morgan persists with questions about Evans’ actions. Mrs. Evans, to her credit, handled the incident rather well.
Below is the video of the spitting incident in question, as you can clearly see both players spit at each other. Evans continues to deny he intentionally spat at Cisse.
