The first goal in New York City FC’s history is in the books, and it’s not hard to guess who netted the thing.
David Villa coolly shot a ball into the St. Mirren goal in the 33rd minute of NYCFC’s first match, making history for the young Major League Soccer club.

Wearing the captain’s arm band, Villa collected the ball with his left foot before firing low across goal to put NYC up 1-0.
The MLS side won 2-0.
