Cristiano Ronaldo could be in trouble for celebrating a goal.

That’s right, Ronaldo’s “calm down” celebration following his equalizer for Real Madrid in their 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in the El Clasico is now under investigation.

Ronaldo, 29, ran towards the Barcelona fans at the Nou Camp stadium and gestured for them to calm down which angered the home supporters.

Now, the president of the Spanish football league (LFP) Javier Tebas has said the following regarding Ronaldo’s provocative celebration.

“We have to be careful with provocative gestures by a player when he scores a goal or with any other provocation or conduct that could incite violence among spectators,” Tebas said. “It must be sanctioned, from a fine up to a suspension. We will look into it.”

Ronaldo loves a bit of back and forth with opposing fans and was widely criticized for ripping off his shirt in celebrating his goal in the UEFA Champions League final against Real’s fierce rivals Atletico Madrid last season. However after a Deportivo La Coruna fan was killed during fighting before a game with Atleti in November, the Spanish league are cracking down on anything which could entice violence in and around stadiums.

Below is the celebration in question. Does Ronaldo deserve a ban for this?
