What was Cesc Fabregas thinking?
Answer: I’m not entirely sure. Does Fabregas have an incredible ability to control and manipulate a soccer ball in ways that 99 percent of the world will never be able to comprehend? Of course he does. Of course he hit (one of) his intended target(s).

But, let’s say one of those targets (Chris Brunt was the player he hit) had moved out of the way and the ball made a beeline straight for the face of the referee instead. Fabregas would have been given a multiple-game suspension (think four or six, at least) that stretched into the beginning of next season.
If nothing else, Fabregas stole the attention (and potential for a sending off of his own) away from Diego Costa and kept the temperamental Brazilian-born Spaniard on the field.
