Manuel Neuer is bored. There’s no other way to explain the Bayern Munich and German national team goalkeeper’s recent marauding adventures up the field, further up the field and once again further up the field.
The 28-year-old, widely dubbed the best goalkeeper in the world for the last two years, drew rave reviews as a frequent sweeper-keeper for the 2014 World Cup winners. It’s as if Neuer has mastered the art of goalkeeping and is now looking to improve as an outfield player — a set of skills which would make many professional players feel inferior.

On Saturday, Neuer busted out the latest bit of skill from his ever-deepening bag of tricks — an effortless backheel redirect of a 40-yard back-pass from a teammate — in a meaningful Bundesliga game against Frankfurt.
