Transfer rumor roundup: Giovinco to Tottenham, Altidore to Toronto

Altidore

Sebastian Giovinco is interesting Spurs, according to Spanish publication fichajes.net. The 27-year-old Juventus forward, known as the “atomic ant”, has been on the outside looking in this season at Juve and a move away beckons for the Italian international. The former Parma forward is apparently wanted by Tottenham Hotspur to bolster their forward line as Emmanuel Adebayor has reportedly been offered to Major League Soccer.

Talking of MLS, Giovinco has also been linked to Toronto FC with Sport Mediaset reporting that the former Parma striker could head to MLS in January on a contract worth $5 million per season.

So, Toronto are seemingly after a new forward and USMNT striker Jozy Altidore is on their radar according to reports from the Guardian in the UK. They claim that Toronto, Portland and the New York Red Bulls are all in the hunt for Altidore as Sunderland boss Gus Poyet claimed that Altidore will leave the Stadium of Light by the end of January.

The Daily Mirror claims that Manchester United are chasing Southampton’s 23-year-old right back Nathaniel Clyne. The pacey defender made his England debut in recent months and Clyne has apparently been earmarked as United’s next big signing by Louis van Gaal. Clyne has 18 months left on his deal at Saints, so they will no doubt be in contract negotiations in the coming months to try and keep hold of him.

Yaya Sanogo has reportedly picked Crystal Palace, so say the Metro, over Hull City, as the young French striker will be allowed to leave Arsenal in January on loan. Sanogo, 21, was chucked into the Gunners’ first team by Arsene Wenger last season but has struggled for minutes during the current campaign.
