Tottenham’s captain and star striker Harry Kane was injured in their 1-0 defeat at Southampton on Saturday.

Kane stretched to finish in the 74th minute but as he scored he tweaked his hamstring as he immediately signalled to the bench to be subbed out.

To add to his injury the goal was ruled out for Kane being offside, as VAR checked and he was just offside. The England striker was able to walk off the pitch with a little help and it seemed like more of a hamstring tweak than a full pull.

Tottenham’s fans will no doubt be sweating after an update from Jose Mourinho as Spurs’ top four hopes rely on Kane being fit.

“I think it’s negative. For Harry to come out is negative. Hamstring is always a negative. Is it a tear? Is it a small thing? Is it a spasm? Is it a contraction? In this moment I cannot say,” Mourinho said. “We had a big problem with Son being suspended in this period 26th, 28th and 1st of January, three matches without Son was a problem for us. Now Son is back Harry Kane is out but that’s the way it is. We have to try to cope the best we can.”

This is an example of player being hit hard by the busy festive schedule and Kane is a player who always digs deep and leaves everything on the pitch for his team.
