In recent weeks, Roy Keane’s named has been linked with the vacant manager’s chair at Celtic.
But the Republic of Ireland legend and assistant coach isn’t ready to leave his job as Martin O’Neill’s No. 2 just yet, and has reportedly pulled his name out of the running for the gig.
Celtic made sure to note that they had not offered him the job, though they didn’t deny O’Neill’s comments that the Scottish club was interested in Keane.
From the BBC:O’Neill had said he expected a decision on Keane’s future before Wednesday, when Ireland fly out to the United States for friendlies against Costa Rica and Portugal.
And the Football Association of Ireland said in a statement: “Roy Keane has confirmed he will travel to the US after deciding not to pursue talks with Celtic any further.”
Keane appeared in 10 games for Celtic at the end of his career, scoring once. He has since managed Sunderland and Ipswich Town.
