In a shocking turn of events, it now looks like Pedro is set to join Chelsea.

The winger has been tabbed for a move to Manchester United throughout the summer, and after Barcelona’s loss to Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup, it seemed just a matter of time before he joined the Red Devils.

Now out of nowhere, reports in Europe state Pedro is flying to London to undergo a medical with Chelsea, with the move to be announced imminently.

Spanish news outlet Marca is reporting that Chelsea has offered Barcelona more than $30 million for the Spanish winger, which tops Manchester United’s reported offer of $28 million. According to Sky Sports, Manchester United has dropped interest in Pedro now that Chelsea seemingly have a deal in place.

It is believed that Jose Mourinho called Pedro after Chelsea’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City, and his former Barcelona teammate Cesc Fabregas helped convince him to choose Stamford Bridge over Old Trafford.

If this move goes through, it would be a massive coup for Chelsea and a huge loss for United. The Blues are winless after two Premier League matches, and Mourinho’s lack of movement in the transfer window has raised some questions as to whether Chelsea can defend the title.

For Manchester United, many thought the arrival of Pedro would push the Red Devils towards taking that title away from Chelsea, and Louis van Gaal has been keen to get a deal done all summer long.
