The reasons for Hope Solo being suspended from the U.S. women’s national are now starting to become a lot clearer.
A fresh report claimed her husband Jerramy Stevens was in fact driving a U.S. Soccer team van when he was arrested by police in Los Angeles under the suspicion of driving under the influence earlier this week.

According to TMZ Solo’s husband, a former tight-end in the NFL, was pulled over outside the Manhattan Beach hotel at 1:49 a.m. local time on Monday morning by police as he was driving a team van owned by U.S. Soccer.
TMZ claim that Stevens and Solo were the only two people in the vehicle and in the report it describes both as being “hammered.” Oh dear. It also claims that Solo was “belligerent with the arresting officers” and had to be taken inside the building by hotel staff as her husband was arrested. Solo has been training with the USWNT in California as they continue to prepare for the World Cup in Canada this summer.

On Wednesday U.S. soccer released a statement via head coach of the women’s national team Jill Ellis, as Solo will miss the USWNT’s two friendlies against England and France in Europe next month.
“During our current national team camp, Hope made a poor decision that has resulted in a negative impact on U.S. Soccer and her teammates,” Ellis said. “We feel at this time it is best for her to step away from the team.”
The latest issue with Solo comes just weeks after domestic violence charges against her were dismissed by a judge following an alleged altercation with her half-sister and 17-year-old nephew at a party in Washington last June. And just before the couple were married in 2012, Stevens was arrested under investigation of assault after a disturbance involving Solo but he was not charged.
Solo, 33, has kept the most shutouts in USWNT history, has won two Olympic gold medals and is due to represent the U.S. at the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada which begins in June. But as details of her latest indiscretion continue to leak out, Solo’s future with the USWNT continues to be under plenty of scrutiny.
