  • City defeated Tottenham 6-0 and 5-1 last season.
  • Edin Dzeko has six goals in his last six matches against Spurs
  • Spurs have conceded 27 goals in the past seven meetings with City

Tottenham will look to reverse their fortunes against Manchester City as they travel to the Etihad this weekend.

The game can be seen live Saturday at 7 a.m. ET on NBCSN and online via Live Extra.

With Manchester City looking to keep the pressure on league-leaders Chelsea and Spurs trying to jump into the top-five on the table, this is a big match for both clubs’ campaigns.

After two blowout losses to City last season, Mauricio Pochettino will try to keep his side focused on the match at hand, without thinking about their previous results at the Etihad.

The good news for Spurs is that Manchester City may be without Yaya Toure in the midfield, who is currently away on international duty with the Ivory Coast. If Toure does not play, Frank Lampard could get the start in Manuel Pellegrini’s side. Fernandinho is also doubtful after picking up a knock against Aston Villa in City’s last match.

What they’re saying

Manuel Pellegrini on City’s success vs. Spurs last season: “I am sure it will be a different Tottenham. Last season, one of the best games we played was against Tottenham away. Here [at the Etihad Stadium] we also played well, but we are not expecting we can score five or six goals every time we play Tottenham.”

Mauricio Pochettino on looking ahead to Saturday: “The reality is I don’t remember the results. This is another season, another philosophy, another game and we need to arrive on Saturday with the idea to believe in our philosophy and style and try to get the points.

Prediction:

Mauricio Pochettino has his squad fired up and ready to take on the defending champions, while Spurs control play for spells throughout the game. But despite injury concerns, City are too skilled and deep to let them affect the team. Manchester City 2-1 Tottenham.
