Liverpool Football Club got a huge boost on Tuesday as Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho committed his future to the Reds.

Coutinho, 22, arrived at Anfield in January 2013 from Inter Milan and was hugely influential in Liverpool’s second-place finish in the Premier League last season.

Speaking to the club website about signing a new deal, the Brazilian national team player is delighted to extend his stay on Merseyside.

“I’m really happy. It’s a dream come true playing for this great club and being part of this squad,” Coutinho said. “Today I’ve committed my future to the club and for this I’m feeling very pleased. This club is great and the fans have always supported me, so I’ve been eager to sign this new deal since conversations started. Today is a very happy day.”

In Liverpool’s 2-0 win over West Ham United last Saturday, Coutinho set up both goals and has impressed with his incisive runs and clever play in the No. 10 role this season.

After getting back into the Brazilian national team setup under new coach Carlos Dunga, Coutinho will now look to kick on and add more goals to his game. So far he has scored just 10 times in 81 appearances for the Reds but he now has stability and will look to keep improving as a player and kick on to the next level after impressing during his first two years at Anfield.
