Pep Guardiola did not mince words when it came to Yaya Toure’s return from a bitter absence to lead Manchester City to victory.

Despite a long controversy swelled by Toure’s agent, Guardiola and Toure are on good terms now after the player apologized to the coach.

And Toure’s first Premier League start of the year provided a pair of goals in Manchester City’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.

From the BBC:

“I am so happy for Yaya Toure, he is a really nice guy. His weight is perfect now, there are no doubts about his quality. At the beginning we did not count on him, he would not be here, but he can play many positions. I am so happy for him and his family. We have one more man to help us achieve our targets.

“The last month and a half he was amazing in training, his behavior is absolutely everything. His teammates love him. He is going to help us to rotate the team, we need that.”

Toure lumbered a bit early but clearly got into the flow. At 35, he’s not going to be a 90-minute man too often. But he is, as he always has been, capable of dominating a match when motivated. We doubt this will be his last star turn with City.
