Paul Lambert is out as Aston Villa’s manager.
In a brief club statement on Wednesday, Villa confirmed that they had “parted company” with Lambert after the Midlands side dropped into the relegation zone on Tuesday following their fifth-straight Premier League defeat.

Lambert, 45, took charge of Villa in the summer of 2012 after guiding Norwich City to two-straight promotions to the Premier League and then solidifying the Canaries status as a top-flight team.
However after winning just 35 of his 115 games in charge, which included two-straight 15th placed finishes in the PL standings, Lambert has been dismissed by Villa’s American owner Randy Lerner after plenty of fan unrest which has seen supporters holding up “Lambert Out” banners during recent games.

First-team coach Scott Marshall and goalkeeping coach Andy Marshall will continue to prepare the squad for Sunday’s FA Cup tie with Leicester City at Villa Park.
The club would also like to place on record its thanks to Paul and take this opportunity to wish him every success in the future.
The club will announce a new manager in due course.
