Newcastle United fell to Southampton this past weekend, extending a poor run of form that has seen the Magpies lose six of their last seven matches.
The frustrations boiled over during halftime as defender Daryl Janmaat broke two fingers after punching a wall in the dressing room.

Janmaat had been taken off just before the half with a groin injury and then took his anger out on a wall during what was reported to be a very tense break in the Newcastle dressing room.
The Dutch defender was seen leaving the stadium in a sling, although neither his hand or groin issues are expected to keep him out of any upcoming matches.

This incident is a microcosm of Newcastle’s season as a whole as the Magpies currently sit 19th on the Premier League table, six points below safety with six matches to play.
Today marks the one-month anniversary of Rafa Benitez’s appointment at St. James’ Park, although there isn’t much to celebrate. Since taking charge on March 11, Rafa is yet to win a match, earning just one point from a possible 12 as the club continues to slide towards the Championship.
