Mohamed Salah’s scorching of Spurs rewrote the record book as his latest virtuoso performance led Liverpool’s 6-3 demolition of Tottenham Hotspur in North London on Sunday.
Salah made Premier League and Liverpool history in both single season and all-time fashion in the win, which saw the 32-year-old score two goals and two assists.
Those numbers mean he leads the Premier League in goals and assists at Christmas. Both totals are double digits, and no player has done that in the history of the league.

Salah also tied David Beckham for assists all-time, joining the Manchester United and England legend for 10th all-time with 80.
And he’s now fourth in Liverpool history for goals after passing Billy Liddell. His 228 goals in a Liverpool shirt trail Gordon Hodgson (241), Roger Hunt (285), and Ian Rush (346).
Salah talked about that after the game, and was asked about his new contract. It probably keeps getting richer, but Liverpool’s Egyptian King said there’s no update on a new deal at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah reaction to record-breaking 6-3 win at Tottenham
On the game: “We were quite good in front but defensively we have to improve as a team. Conceding three goals is quite hard. It’s quite a good result and hopefully we just keep going. ... We expected the way they play, they open the game and enjoy football. It’s a tough physical and mental game. You have to always be in the game.”
What’s so hard about playing Spurs? “It’s quite intense. City came here and struggled and so did other teams. I’m happy to win because they really play an intense game.”
On becoming the first PL player with double digit goals and assists before Christmas: “I’m glad that I’ve done it. Something to make me happy and proud and just keep working hard.:"
On rising to fourth all-time in Liverpool’s goals list: “It’s something great to achieve at such a big club like Liverpool. ... I don’t know how [Ian Rush] scored so many goals to be fair but he’s a great legend for the club. Whatever I’m going to end my career with, I’m happy.”
