Marcos Rojo had missed Sporting Lisbon practice with the goal of forcing his squad to transfer him to Manchester United, and the club revealed that he would face disciplinary measures for his hold-out tactics.

He apologized and rebuked himself to Sporting’s official television station.

“It was all a misunderstanding, I was a hothead. I’m sorry for what happened because I feel that I was unprofessional,” he said, by way of Sportal.com.

“My career depends on Sporting. Now, I will try to correct the situation. At the time Sporting signed me, it was not a good time. I can only thank Sporting.”

Rojo shined at the 2014 World Cup performing for Argentina, making it to the finals before losing to world champion Germany. The 24-year-old has been constantly linked with United, and a deal is supposedly being talked about between the two teams. With the original £16 million bid, Sporting has also asked for a loan of Nani or Anderson in exchange for the former Spartak Moscow man.
