Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez is still, technically, a Manchester United player but the Mexican international striker is well aware that he’s likely to move on from Old Trafford this summer.

Hernandez, 27, is entering the prime of his career but has just one-year left on his contract at United. He could yet return to play for the Red Devils but it seems like a long shot after he was shipped out on loan to Real Madrid for the 2014-15 campaign where he scored nine goals in 33 appearances for Los Blancos. Real turned down the chance to sign Hernandez permanently when his loan deal expired this summer and he will start preseason with his parent club, United.
The former Chivas Guadalajara striker doesn’t seem to have a future in Manchester as Louis van Gaal recently gave an update on Hernandez and insinuated that nothing has changed despite his loan move to Real and that the Mexican striker will not get regular minutes at United. So, what next?
Hernandez had the following to say to Spanish outlet Marca about his future:
Hernandez has been linked with teams across Europe and even with a move to MLS, and he will certainly have plenty of suitors as United try and get him off the wage bill and move on the man who has seen his career stall as his reputation as a “super sub” seems to have hindered his chances of becoming an integral part of any team he plays in. At United he has Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, James Wilson, Angel di Maria and now Memphis Depay to compete with for a starting spot in the attacking spots and under LVG United only deploy one central striker which further limits Chicharito’s chances of getting regular minutes.
Southampton, West Ham United, Valencia, Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur and Orlando City are just some of the clubs linked with making a move for Hernandez.
He is a lethal finisher who deserves a regular starting spot at a team in the upper echelons of Europe’s top leagues. It will be extremely interesting to see where he lands if United decides to let him go.
