LOGO: Atlanta United unveils logo, makes name official at Tuesday event

Atlanta United

Atlanta United made its name official and rolled out its crest on Tuesday, a straight-forward branding effort under the phrase “Atlanta is United”.

The MLS side is set to debut in 2017. After MLSSoccer.com confirmed their name last week, Arthur Blank’s new franchise unveiled their crest at a “founders’ event” on Tuesday.

The crest follows suit in the recent trend of simplified design, a near stand-alone ‘A’ inside a circle and atop black and red stripes. Could we be seeing a MetroStars-type kit?

It’s simple, and also joins the legion of cities with closely-aligned team colors. Given that owner Arthur Blank also runs the Falcons, it’s not a surprise. The idea of gold playing a big role is nice, although only the red separate this look from the Philadelphia Union.

It’s kinda “Union meets the Eiffel Tower”.

What do you think?
