The loss comes with unhappy history, as Leicester became the first Premier League team to lose seven-straight home fixtures without scoring a goal.

United move to 37 points, good for 13th place on the table. The Red Devils are 10 points back of seventh place.

Leicester finish the weekend in 19th with 17 points, nine back of 17th-place Wolves.

Bruno Fernandes proving club legends can come from down eras

It’s now been years of performing well on a substandard Manchester United team for Bruno Fernandes, but there’s no denying how special of a player he’s been regardless of the Red Devils’ poor runs. From the moment he arrived as a mid-season signing, Fernandes has supplied chance after chance to teammates while also chipping in goals himself. Fernandes is closing in on 100 goals in a Manchester United shirt and is 20th all-time in that department. He’s got more goals than David Beckham, Eric Cantona, and Dwight Yorke in a United shirt and there’s no reason to think he’ll stop now. As for assists, it’s reasonable to think a couple more years will boost him from top five into top three — with only Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, and Beckham above him.

Manchester United are cruising to victory against Leicester City as Bruno Fernandes' first-time effort finds the back of the net to make it 3-0 at the King Power Stadium.

Lindelof makes brilliant block

Vardy should have an assist, again, but Victor Lindelof makes a tremendous block to deny Leicester a wide-open look from the heart of the box.

Still 2-0 United, 76'.

Man United triple sub

Harry Amass subs into the game on his 18th birthday, joined on the pitch by Casemiro and Joshua Zirkzee.

Exiting the game are Christian Eriksen, Manuel Ugarte, and Garnacho.

Alejandro Garnacho goal — Leicester 0-2 Man United (67th minute)

This one will count.

Collyer finds Fernandes, who loses the ball but gets it back and quickly finds Garnacho.

The Argentine turns, fires, and makes it 2-0 with his ninth of the PL season.

Just moments after his goal was disallowed, Alejandro Garnacho finds the back of the net to double Manchester United's lead at the King Power Stadium.

Garnacho just offside before insurance goal

The Argentine is already perched atop the advertising boards in celebration after scoring what he thought was a nice goal from 10 yards.

But VAR has confirmed the late-arriving AR’s flag and it remains 0-0 in the 58th minute.

Ayden Heaven injured breaking up chance

Another injury for Man United, and this one doesn’t look good.

Jamie Vardy raced into the left side of the United box and sent the ball through the six to Patson Daka.

Teenage defender Ayden Heaven slid to make a desperation block on Daka, and did, but he was instantly distress and a stretcher was soon called as Amorim quickly readied Toby Collyer.

Still 1-0 United, 49'.

Halftime — Leicester City 0-1 Manchester United

The only thing for Ruben Amorim to lament is that it’s only 1-0 after 45 minutes, and his team played Thursday so legs are only going to get heavier.

Shots are 9-4 for the visitors, who have more possession but faded a bit before halftime.

Can Ruud van Nistelrooy find a way through his former charges?

Rasmus Hojlund goal — Leicester 0-1 Man United (28th minute)

Bruno Fernandes long pass beats Leicester’s line, but Hojlund has work to do.

He does it well, snapping his goal slump with a shot across goal while pressured by James Justin.

Leicester had a few moments danger but only have one shot attempt.

Hojlund’s shot was United’s seventh of the game.

Leicester City vs Manchester United preview — By Andy Edwards

Much of the narrative surrounding the Red Devils (34 points - 14th) of late has been disproportionately negative (and for good reason), but Ruben Amorim’s side can point to draws with Arsenal and Everton, two top-five form teams in the PL, and a victory over Ipswich in recent weeks as clear indicators that they have not given up on the season. Most impressive from Manchester United is the fact that they have just 12 senior players available due to a rash of injuries, and they have managed to avoid defeat in three straight PL games for just the second time all season. It will, however, be interesting to see how Amorim handles competing in the PL and Europa League in the coming weeks, as the latter is his last shot at qualifying for the UEFA Champions League (or any European competition) next season.

As for Leicester (17 points - 19th), it’s now or never if the Foxes are to defy the odds and avoid an immediate relegation back to the Championship. Beloved Man United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy (150 goals in 219 appearances in just five seasons for the club) has had a miserable go in the hot seat at King Power Stadium, with a 2W-1D-12L record in 15 PL games since taking over from Steve Cooper on Dec. 3. That includes five straight defeats without a single goal scored (and 13 conceded) heading into Sunday’s showdown.

Leicester vs Manchester United prediction

At some point, the remaining United players are going to run out of gas, or Amorim is going to show a bit of mercy and give them a break. Can Leicester make the most of it, though? Perhaps. Leicester 1-1 Manchester United.
