There were eight, and now there are four sides — all from the Premier League — remaining in the 2022-23 League Cup, after the semifinal draw was held on Wednesday.
Newcastle took down Leicester City as Dan Burn joined Joelinton on the scoresheet and Jamie Vardy blew two late chances to get the Foxes back in the match.

League One side Charlton Athletic, the last remaining lower-league side, was bounced 3-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford thanks to a goal from Antony and two late tallies from red-hot Marcus Rashford.
Earlier on Wednesday, Nottingham Forest edged past Wolves, 4-3 in a penalty kick shootout. Saints then turned in the season’s signature performance — perhaps the one required to kick on from their miserable start in the Premier League (20th, after 18 games) — to beat the two-time defending PL champions and winners of five of the last seven League Cups, 2-0.
