LAFC officially names itself... LAFC

LAFC stadium 3

Whatever nickname that comes calling for the latest MLS club to call California home will be earned, not proffered.

Los Angeles Football Club is the simple, new name for Major League Soccer’s second club. After a debate, it was apparently determined the working title would do the trick full-time.

As for the colors and team identity, the LAFC ownership is giving fans a significant role in driving the discussion.

From LAFC.com:

The Club determined the official name after months of engagement with supporters, partners, stakeholders and founding season ticket members.

“The name that we chose is true to Los Angeles, authentic to world football and speaks to our global ambitions,” said the Club’s Managing Partner and Owner, Henry Nguyen

The Club also launched a social media campaign to give its supporters a voice in selecting the Club’s official colors.

No issues here, and gratefully isn’t “united”. Surely there will be those who dispute the “football” instead of “soccer”, but if LAFC is aiming to be a world power in time, I’ll take no umbrage with using the world’s lexicon.
