Liverpool came out on the wrong end of a highly entertaining League Cup final on Sunday, as the Reds fell to Manchester City on penalties.
Despite staying level for 120 minutes, Liverpool couldn’t beat goalkeeper Willy Caballero, who stopped three kicks in the shootout to lead City to the trophy.

While players and supporters will be bitterly disappointed with the result, it was a very solid the performance as the club came within inches of winning silverware for the first time since 2012.
Speaking after the defeat, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said he was pleased with his side’s play and that he thought it was enough to win the match. While they couldn’t pull it out, Klopp believes it is important for his team to “feel” the defeat and to move forward from that feeling.
I am disappointed of course with the end. Pleased with a lot of things I saw in the game.
We tried everything, we scored the goal. We had a big chance with another few situations. It is unlucky but it is one way to lose a cup final.
Manchester City should not have scored their goal, we had to strike back and we did. We played well in a lot of moments. It doesn’t matter what I say now, it won’t change the result.
We all have to feel it now. It is what it is. You can fall but it is how you stand up. We cannot change this game now, we have to carry on and we will carry on.
Wembley has not been kind to Jurgen Klopp, as he is now 0-2 in cup finals at England’s home stadium. His Borussia Dortmund side lost to Bayern Munich in the Champions League Final at Wembley in 2013.

Klopp has no time to dwell on the League Cup loss, with Liverpool taking on Manchester City once again in the Premier League on Wednesday.
