Dusan Vlahovic and USMNT man Weston McKennie scored second-half goals to give Juve a big result.

City now sit 22nd on the UEFA Champions League table, just one point ahead of the teams who will miss out on the knockout rounds entirely. City go to PSG, currently out of the top 24, on January 21 before welcoming Club Brugge to the Etihad Stadium on January 29.

Juventus rise to 14th with 11 points. Juve go to Club Brugge on January 21, then host Benfica on January 29.

Teams ranked ninth to 24th on the table will play in a playoff round for the right to reach the knockout rounds proper.

Weston McKennie goal! Juventus 2-0 Man City (75th minute)

What a sub by Thiago Motta!

USMNT midfielder McKennie starts a combination play by sending club and country teammate Timothy Weah out wide to the right.

The winger sees his first cross blocked, but Weah spins his second effort to the heart of the box and McKennie adjusts to slam home a sumptuous side volley.

Two USMNT stars on for Juve

Timothy Weah and Weston McKennie enter for Conceicao and Khephren Thuram-Ulien

Close but no equalizer from City

Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland are both bright but aren’t quite connecting.

The latest chance is Doku’s hard cross, absent receiver.

1-0, 64'.

Dusan Vlahovic goal! Juventus 1-0 Man City

Turkiye teenager Kenan Yildiz takes advantage of a miscommunication between Kyle Walker and a teammate, rescuing the ball on the right side of the 18.

Yildiz clips a pretty cross toward Juve’s goliath forward — and rumored Arsenal target — Dusan Vlahovic.

The Serbian nods it toward Ederson, who just cannot keep the ball from crossing the line by inches.

Halftime — Juve 0-0 Man City

City were solid defensively and held the ball, but only really found one big chance to score through 45 minutes.

No changes for either side at the break.

Juventus lineup

Juventus vs Manchester City preview — By Joe Prince-Wright

The Italian giants are in the Serie A title hunt under Thiago Motta and they have become incredibly tough to beat. Juve have drawn seven of their last nine games in all competitions, winning the other two, and they’ve done that while suffering huge injury problems. After their draw at Aston Villa last time out they are level on points with Manchester City in the Champions League on eight. Both teams set in the playoff spots but a win in this game would put them right in the picture for a top eight spot which sees them automatically into the last 16.

City are off the pace in the Premier League as they dropped more points at the weekend at Crystal Palace. Pep Guardiola’s side keep giving up big chances and defensively they look so vulnerable. At least they’ve started to create and score goals at the other end, with Erling Haaland scoring again at the weekend. There’s a sense City will figure things out soon, but they may have to go all-in on winning the Champions League this season and that was made tougher by their recent heavy defeat at Sporting Lisbon and chucking away a 3-0 lead to draw at home with Feyenoord last time out.

Juventus team news, focus

The list of Juventus injuries has been pretty wild. Center back Bremer and left back Juan Cabral are both out for the season, while Arkadiusz Milik, Nico Gonzalez and Andrea Cambiaso are also out. USMNT winger Tim Weah could start but American midfielder Weston McKennie has been struggling with injury. Dusan Vlahovic, Kenan Yildiz and Teun Koopmeiners are Juve’s main attacking threats.

Manchester City team news, focus

Injuries are building up again, especially at the back, for City. John Stones and Manuel Akanji are doubts, while Nathan Ake is out too. That means Walker, Dias, Gvardiol and Lewis are likely to start at the back again. Kevin de Bruyne may not start as Guardiola continues to ease him back in after injury, while Grealish and Doku could start as they continue to build their way back to full fitness.

OUT: Rodri (knee - out for season), Oscar Bobb (lower leg), Mateo Kovacic (undisclosed), Nathan Ake (thigh), Phil Foden (illness) | QUESTIONABLE: John Stones (ankle), Manuel Akanji (unspecified)

Juventus vs Manchester City prediction

This feels like it will be a tight, tense draw. Juve are the draw specialists and City just don’t have much in the tank right now. Juventus 1-1 Manchester City.
