Enzo Maresca reaction — How did Chelsea boss react after beating Brentford?

It flies in the face of every opinion and prediction given before the season, but Chelsea are genuine Premier League title contenders in year 1 of the Enzo Maresca era.

CHELSEA 2-1 BRENTFORD - Recap, highlights & analysis

The Blues picked up a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to move within two points of leaders Liverpool, who have played one less game due to postponement, with all the momentum in their favor. Liverpool and Arsenal, above and below them, have each drawn their last two games while Chelsea are winners of five straight.

Enzo Maresca reaction — How did Chelsea boss react in his post-match press conference?

“We were in control of the game except the last 10 minutes where we concede. It’s normal. We created chances. We could have scored more. We deserved to win the game.”

“Just two teams have conceded less than us. Defensively we’re not doing bad. We’d like to end with a clean sheet but there’s another team trying to score.”

What did Enzo Maresca say about Chelsea being in the Premier League title race?

“No matter how many games we win, I think we are not ready to compete for the title. One of the reasons why is because I think the teams know how to compete for titles. They are not going to concede goals like we do. [The one today] it was a throw-in for us. That’s why I don’t think we are ready for compete for titles. We cannot concede how we did and open the game and give them a chance.”

“You can talk about the title and the fans can dream about the title, absolutely. If you ask me, I will tell you what I think. For me, we are not ready but we are happy the fans can dream.”
