The hits keep on coming for reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, a club that will be without David Silva for three weeks.

That, obviously, includes this weekend’s massive Manchester derby with resurgent Manchester United.

The game’s at the Etihad Stadium, the same location where Silva was injured in City’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle United in a midweek League Cup tie.

The good news is that a minor injury to Yaya Toure won’t keep the Ivorian from the derby.

From the BBC:

“Yaya has a small problem. We will see him tomorrow - I think he will not have any problem.”

The Chilean, whose side are six points behind leaders Chelsea, admitted the loss of playmaker Silva was a blow but believes the reigning champions will cope without him.

“He’s a very important player but I always say the same thing - we have the squad and we have to replace him because everyone has different problems with their players,” he added.

City and United tangle at 8am ET on NBCSN this Sunday, and the absence of Silva will be a bonus for Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils. United did not have a midweek match after being humbled by MK Dons earlier in the tournament, and should be ready to roar.

But did Joe Prince-Wright pick them to win? Find out here.
