Crystal Palace 0-2 Fulham: Silva’s solid Cottagers win again

Fulham keep climbing up the Premier League table, now boasting the fourth-most points in the division after a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Emile Smith Rowe and Harry Wilson scored for the visitors, who are one of four teams on 18 points at the moment. Fulham sit sixth on the table.

WATCH FULL REPLAY

Palace trailed 1-0 when Daichi Kamada was sent off for a sloppy second-half challenge, and will lament their lack of first-half sharpness as big chances fell their way but didn’t wind up the goal.

The Eagles seven points are just one more than 18th-place Wolves, who beat Southampton on Saturday.

No passengers for Marco Silva’s Fulham

It’s difficult to crack the Fulham starting lineup, which explains why Harry Wilson remained a substitute after his Week 10 brace. No matter, as the Welsh winger again found the score sheet. The Cottagers are just so solid this season, harnessing the fire of manager Marco Silva and breathing it onto the pitch via Emile Smith Rowe’s play-driving midfield role. There isn’t a weakness in the Fulham XI, and good players are waiting to come affect the game. Wilson had a goal chalked off for handball off a would-be assist from fellow sub Adama Traore. The Cottagers are no joke.

Lack of goals, not chances, continue to befuddle Glasner’s Palace

Palace love to shoot and they are producing more danger than they’re converting into goals. A drop in attacking numbers would’ve been expected once Michael Olise left town, even moreso while Eberechi Eze, Eddie Nketiah, and Matheus Franca are out through injury, but this is not an insipid attack. Mateta was again a workhorse for a Palace side that entered the game with eight goals scored compared to nearly 14 xG on the Premier League season. Ismaila Sarr and Daichi Kamada were very disappointing underneath Mateta on Saturday.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham live updates — By Nick Mendola

Harry Wilson’s done it again — Palace 0-2 Fulham (83rd minute)

Smith Rowe brings the ball into the midfield, where Alex Iwobi’s seeing-eye through ball is met by Fulham’s super sub.

Harry Wilson zips into the 18 and Dean Henderson can only get a piece of the Welshman’s left-footed rip.

Crystal Palace red card (video)! Daichi Kamada sent off

Daichi Kamada has been a bit sloppy today and off his game.

Palace’s Japanese midfield stretches for the ball and goes studs first into Kenny Tete’s angle.

Palace down to 10 men in the 76th minute, still trailing 1-0.

Handful of subs since the hour mark

Devenny and Clyne have left the game for Palace. Cheick Doucoure and Jeffrey Schupp check into the match.

Raul Jimenez is off for Fulham, and it’s Rodrigo Muniz on for him.

Smith Rowe again, but...

Oh, it looks like Smith Rowe is just offside before capping a great team goal from the Cottagers.

Jimenez’s pass to Nelson is well-rescued, and Nelson sends Iwobi down the right.

Smith Rowe snaps home Iwobi’s cross but is he onside? Tyrick Mitchell is right with him and this will come down to centimeters.

Offside! Still just 1-0 Fulham after a two minute review.

Palace look better out of the break

Devenny chops a 19-yard shot over the bar as the Eagles bid to level the score line.

No subs for either side.

Halftime — Crystal Palace 0-1 Fulham

Fulham’s held two-thirds of the ball but had not produced the best danger until the last turnover, which coincidentally came after the Cottagers were responsible for the most errors.

Shots finish 9-6 for the Cottagers but xG is 0.99-0.55 for the Eagles, who fotmob credits with four big chances to Fulham’s one.

That one went in, though.

Emile Smith Rowe goal — Palace 0-1 Fulham (45+2')

Lacroix’s midfield pass is sloppy and blocked by Smith Rowe toward Raul Jimenez.

There’s space to cover as Jimenez plays Smith Rowe toward the 18.

Smith Rowe deals with Lacroix while working toward his left, hitting a low shot across his body and inside the right post from the edge of the 18.

Emile Smith Rowe gets the stop on defense and turns it into a crucial score just before the half to give Fulham the 1-0 lead over Crystal Palace.

Goal mouth clearance!

Mistake from Fulham allows Ismaila Sarr to run down the right side and chip a cross toward the penalty spot.

Mateta tracks what might’ve been a lost cause, and it pays off as both Bernd Leno and Joachim Andersen think the other will deal with the ball.

His glancing header is headed slowly over the line but Andersen makes amends with a clearance off the line.

Dean Henderson to the rescue

Smith Rowe springs a chance for Reiss Nelson, who chips a cross that bounces to the back post.

Alex Iwobi is there, and lashes toward goal only for Palace keeper Dean Henderson to make a fine save!

Palace come close

Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has been bright for the Eagles early, and he teams up with Northern Irish midfielder Justin Devenny for what could’ve been an opener.

Fulham penalty shout? Emile Smith Rowe injury

Maxence Lacroix with a well-timed and crunching tackle in the 18 to dispossess Emile Smith Rowe.

Fulham want a penalty for the crunching part, as trainers deal with Smith Rowe. The ex-Arsenal man will continue on, and there will not be VAR intervention.

Remains heavily to the Cottagers

Possession over 70% for the visitors in the first 20 minutes.

Still scoreless.

Fulham look ready

The visitors are very bright and very much in possession aside from a Calvin Bassey break-up of a Palace counter.

Raul Jimenez turns and fires from the top of the 18, but just misses the frame.

0-0, 7'.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham prediction

There will be plenty of opportunities for Palace to counter and score given the risks Fulham take in possession, but who’s going to create the chances and who’s going to finish them? Neither questions has an answer, which is a real problem… Crystal Palace 0-1 Fulham.
